When we were in Seattle last weekend we caught up with our good friend, Andy Myers, formally of Lujo's Hidari Mae. Recently he's been making music as the Game Boy-beat-droppin' Stenobot, and is also part of Seattle super trio, Supercommuter. So it's sort of strange how I stumbled onto how great this album is. I originally downloaded this album when it first came out, nearly a whole year ago. I tried to listen to it, but at the time I just wasn't really feeling chiptunes. Maybe the day just wasn't right. In any case, after I switched to something else, this album just kinda faded from my mind completely. I regret that it's taken me this long to give it the proper listen it deserves. What brought it back to my attention was Stenobot's work in the group Supercommuter, who I mentioned in my last post. I thought "Hell yeah, Stenobot kicks the ass of those beats, why haven't I ever listened to his solo album?" I put it on and was not disappointed. Sink or Swim is a wonderful chiptune adventure through various perfectly demonstrated emotions from happiness to sadness. I also had thought that this album cost money, but apparently it's free!
