"Can I stash this Diting I stol-... I mean... found in your room? I would keep it in mine but... uh... I still don't have one."
From his place in the corner of the archive room, Dan Hang remained with his back to the now open door. Each yip from the bionic pooch made his shoulders twitch and his teeth clamp together, but he reigned in his irritation in time to give a quick, clipped answer.
"No."
He should have left it at that, but he had a sinking feeling in his gut that she wouldn't leave him be. A preemptive sigh escaped, and he turned to her and the Diting prancing around her feet.
"I'm busy, and I doubt that I'll be able to concentrate for long if it's running around in here. Besides, I can't be sure it won't break something. Take it to March's room. Didn't you tell me that she can communicate with it?"
