do you think felix truly falls in love with bridgette first? or the other way round? bc i like the idea of felix falling first
i imagine felix truly falls in love first because their relationship would hinge primarily on him becoming comfortable with bridgette. felix doesnāt want anything to do with bridgette as civilians, and chat noirās only purpose for interacting with ladybug is to try to break his curse, so it makes sense if he is the one to bend first and realise the value of what he has.Ā
obviously itās hard to tell when we saw so little of bridgette outside of her superheroics, but it seems like āladybugā is a free, confident and unrestrained side of herself (far less prone to shyness, awkwardness and clumsiness). for felix it seems like āchat noirā is an identity thatās claustrophobic and fake, alongside being reclusive and self-restricting as a civilian.Ā when felix is keeping himself held so far away from bridgette in every combination of their identities it would be nigh-impossible for her to learn who he really is andĀ trulyĀ fall in love - itās up to felix to let his guard down first and allow someone else to get close to him.
(thatās a very important distinction to make - bridgette is clearly crushing hard on felix, but what she likes is the ideaĀ of him rather than the real thing, and consequentially has no idea how to interact with felix in a way heās comfortable with. it isnātĀ ātrue loveā because it canātĀ be, not yet - they both have to break the shallow impressions they have of one another before they can move forward.)
iāve been thinking a lot about the vastly-untapped brichat section of the love square, and i really think that could be the one that works best. ladybug is so soured to chat noir that itās unlikely their relationship will extend beyond a professional one for a long time, and possibly neverĀ blossom beyond friendship (which i like the idea of; firstly because felix needs a friendĀ before he needs a lover, and secondly so chat noirās morally questionable quest for a kiss will neverĀ be fulfilled); while felix is obviously uncomfortable with bridgetteās affections and would most likely be disinterested in ladybug when he isnāt chat noir.Ā
the brichat mix simultaneously grants felix the opportunity to be around bridgette without being overwhelmed by the attention of being her crush (thus discovering sheās a nice person and he actually enjoys her company), and bridgette the opportunity to be around chat noir without being overwhelmed by hisĀ schmaltzy affections (thus discovering thereās more to chat noir than just a wannabe casanova, and getting a little unconscious insight into what felix is like as a person). this leads to felix being a little less rigid around bridgette, and ladybug being a little less dismissive of chat noir - perfect steps to their relationship beginning to grow.Ā
@steambend Thank you it's like. Lance is a really great and complex character and I absolutely do think he has huge leadership potential and there's SO MUCH the writers could and should be doing with his character. But like he said in season 3: this is a war, not a participation game. During war, you don't pick your leader based on who you think will grow into a strong leader, you pick who is a strong leader RIGHT NOW. Even back in s1ep1, the black lion was said to require a pilot whose men will follow without hesitation. The only person other than Shiro who comes close to fitting that is Allura. She's even said IN THE SHOW to be the decision maker. There's no better candidate in Shiro's absence. The other part of the "lance for black paladin" argument that bothers me is that...the blue lion chose Lance. She had the choice of Shiro, Hunk, Keith or Pidge who are all exceptional in their own rights, but she chose LANCE. And I feel like that is often overlooked because, idk, bigger is better? I'm not sure what the reasoning is, but I do know that Allura and blue came together out of necessity. Lance and blue came together by choice and I think that's important.
