The first border was the concept of time, sun to sun, moon to moon, seasons changing, seed to sprout to mighty tree.
We did not know what to call it back then, but we felt its subtle flow. We felt its need to change things.
We started making marks to record its movements. Days became months, months became years, and so we too were changed, bound within the arms of time.
Now, we are plagued by thoughts of “what if”, and we remember more than we should. We dwell where we should not dwell, in past mistakes, in grief and loneliness, in fear and isolation.
Many enlightened souls have said that now is the only solace to be found, living in the current moment, not straying into the past, not worrying about the future.
This is wisdom, is it not?
The arms of time are very strong, but the desire for freedom is a powerful force.
We sometimes sense this lighter way of life, and it feels as if we are breathing easy, beneath a sky of purest blue.
In one, little word rests the biggest concept of all, that there are no borders if we so choose, that we are infinite.
That we simply are, unfettered as we wish to be.
