⁽ ¹ ⁾ an exploration of: all we know is falling ── “ stay with me. ” accepting.
[ loving her is easy. ] like a steady thrum of breath which remains innate in him, burrowed between sinew and bone as if permanent fixture of his physical make. it's easy like a sunday afternoon, the ones he'd spent wrapped up in her, his body sticking halfway out the window of his bedroom as he beckoned her to him. [ loving her is hard. ] it's the sting of hiding, of knowing what was between them but remaining entirely unable to act upon it. it's seeing her, really seeing her . . . the way her smile brightens the entirety of dimly lit bar as people shuffle out and it's that desire to just close the distance between them once and for all.
he'd walked her home, had no intention of lingering longer than bidding her a friendly goodnight at her front step but her voice beckons to him like a siren call. stay with me, she says, so delicately he thinks he could've missed it if he hadn't always been so fixated on every word that left the supple part of her lips. who the hell was he to deny her of that? this was okay, wasn't it? it was late, they'd all been drinking; it was safer for him to stay over. jaw clicks. he knows he's long gone when he's deciphering excuses in the depths of cluttered thoughts. finally, he's nodding his head. ‟ okay, bells. sure, i'll stay. ” he tries his best to garner remaining sense of composure as he looks to her then, stepping past threshold into her warming apartment. the click of the door shut behind him acts like a seal of decision. no turning back now. ‟ c'mon, let's get you to bed. ”
