C 1: What trope are you tired of reading? Why?
The bully-to-lover trope. Ugh.
I was bullied a lot as a kid, and I can never fathom being in a relationship with any of my bullies, no matter how much they’ve changed since then. I can forgive them, but I can never forget the torment they caused for almost a decade.
And since they only stopped after I started fighting back, it became clear to me that they- and indeed, most bullies- are just cowards who pick on people to feel a sense of superiority.
This is why I truly despise the Drarry and Dramione pairings from the Harry Potter fandom, to the point that I even blocked the former tag. Like if you ship it, go right ahead, but don’t expect me to approve of you shipping the person who uses the same insults that my bullies used on me with the two characters I relate to the most.
C 4 What thing that fandom loves do you actually kind of hate? Why?
As you can probably guess, I don’t really appreciate the fandom making excuses for bully characters like Malfoy (or Snape, even more) to make them more likeable. Like... sure, they’re not as bad as Voldemort, but that doesn’t actually make them good, either.
