A/N: Tony is the mob boss of the Avengers, Steve is his right arm and winter nights are frigging cold in Chicago

There’s no time, the cargo is about to arrive and they are not ready, far from being ready, the party is already starting and Tony doesn’t have the money. He turns around, paces around Steve, stops, looks at his watch and sighs loudly. Steve steps in front of him, takes some snow off Tony’s shoulders and looks into his eyes.

"Calm down, the plan is perfect," Steve says, deadly calm, completely ignoring the snowflakes caressing his cheeks.  "If they’re not going to bite is just because you look too frantic. You really need to breathe."

"Easy for you, if they don’t fall for it I’ll be the one needing to work on my reputation again, and that means slipping the big guys a lot of kickbacks. Again," Tony says, looking around and ignoring the faint rumor coming from his club.

"You are not alone in this. We are with you, don’t you remember? Once an Avenger, always an Avenger." Steve’s voice doesn’t tremble; Steve’s hands are steady, one on Tony’s shoulder, one on the stock of his gun; Steve’s body radiates heat, and Tony wants to lean against his chest for a moment, letting him take care of him like Steve always promises he would.

Pity that Tony is supposed to be the ruthless boss of the Avengers.

They're both literally SO STUBBORN and their relationship SHOULD NOT work as well as it does because they're both so BOSSY and LOUD and THEY HOLD THEIR GROUND. No one thinks what they have is going to work because neither of them make compromises. They want what they want, and will not stop until they get it.
