The official Star Trek: TNG Technical Manual (Rick Sternbach and Mike Okuda, 1991) would come up with it's own system of intra-ship co-ordinates:
Engineering and turbolift layout for a TMP container transport/tug. Credit to Franz Josef's orginal TOS version of the TT and container pod from the 1975 tech manual, and to David Schmidt for the design of the reactor and antimatter bottles.
