Aaand Jaden was feeling awkward. Was he having regrets about it? Not... really. If anything he just felt... bad. But he needed to get that image of him crying in Yusei’s arms out of Yusei’s mind, so after sending his most recent text, Jaden decided to call him.

His words brought a small yet sad smile to Jaden’s lips, his hand hesitating before grasping Yusei’s own, their fingers quickly intertwining as the storm raged before them. Yusei’s words were sweet and he knew that they came straight from his heart. Jaden believed him; Yusei had shown his devotion over and over again with every change of time, with every attempt at saving his life… even if it put Yusei through both emotional and physical hell.

Yusei was destroying himself… all for someone who was destined to die.

“I know,” Jaden called out through the storm, raising his voice so Yusei could hear him over the harsh wind, his gaze shifting to the tornado that was making it’s way to Neo Domino, threatening to wipe out every inch of the city and everyone in it. “I know you’re never leaving me…! Everything you’ve done to prove that means more to me than you’ll ever know…!”

But if that tornado had its way… then Yusei would never forgive himself – not when altering time to save Jaden was the reason it existed in the first place.

He couldn’t let that happen…!

Trembling fingers reached into the side pocket of his red jacket as he used his free hand to grab a cherished gift he had been holding onto every since he reunited with Yusei after five years apart – a photo of a butterfly with wings of brown and delicate specks of red. Yusei had taken it just moments before saving his life for the first time; it was a symbol of their reunion – of their promise to stay partners in crime and time.

It was a promise to stay together forever.

Jaden’s gaze fell to the photo, holding it close to him so the rain wouldn’t damage it… before slowly handing it over to Yusei.

“But… as much as I’m going to miss you…” Jaden squeezed Yusei’s hand, his voice breaking already with just one sentence as he struggled to ask for one final request – one that would change the both of their lives… forever.

He had to let out a laugh at that one, his dazzling crimson tail flinching once more against the physics student’s touch, causing a tiny splash in the tide pool that they had agreed to meet in once the moon was high in the sky and no one was around. It was the only time any proper research could be done without the risk of someone seeing the exotic creature with a playful sense of humor.

“Of course I am! It’s my tail, silly!” Jaden chuckled, sitting back in the water as he lifted his tail up a little bit, watching the way the moonlight reflected each shimmering scale. “They really cut through water, but they’re very sensitive. So just take it easy and I’ll get used to it in no time.”

As he smiled up at Yusei as he continued his research, the prince couldn’t help but feel lucky that he had found himself in this situation. His father had always made it a rule to never interact with people above water, as they were said to be dangerous and would try to take merfolk away for experiments. Jaden definitely didn’t doubt that people like that were out there, but he was glad Yusei wasn’t one of them. That was why Jaden didn’t mind helping out with Yusei’s research on him, as long as it stayed between the two of them… for now at least; he didn’t want to run the risk of people trying to find him, especially when… he didn’t exactly have a home to go back to now that he had left his kingdom.

“You know, your eyes remind me of the stars,” Jaden grinned, placing his webbed hands on one the rocks beside him so he could properly lean up and gaze into Yusei’s deep navy eyes that looked as if they were decorated with stardust. “Do all humans have those kinda eyes, or is it just you?”

Was he flirting or was he just asking a simple question?

Wide orange eyes stared up in awe as her big brother figure gave her such strong words of encouragement. He… He really believed in her so strongly over her dream? Even when it was so different from everyone else’s in the orphanage? His words meant more to Rin than Yusei would probably ever know; he had been the first one she finally confessed her dream to, and to know that he supported it and encouraged her to go forth with it gave her all the strength she needed to continue with her dream of being a big fashion designer – coming up with endless riding suit designs for those who wished to make it big in the duelling world.

Now, that didn’t mean Rin didn’t want to duel – of course not! She had such a strong passion for duelling and for making people smile during those duels so she could one day enter the Friendship Cup with Yugo and win, but… fashion had always had always held such a strong place her heart. She could never give up on that dream, especially when Yusei had helped her so much with realising that it was okay to pursue that dream of hers.

Yuri could hardly believe what was coming out of this Synchro duelist’s mouth. Did he seriously not know what the heck he was talking about? Was he trying to play dumb so Yuri would leave or... did he genuinely have no idea?

Oh my, things were certainly about to get interesting.

“You know… the Professor? The one who rules Duel Academy? The same Duel Academy your dumbass boyfriend betrayed?” He raised an eyebrow once he was met with Yusei's confusion once more. So it was true – Judai hadn't told him a single thing about him. He had been lying this whole time about where he had come from, just like the Obelisk Force had informed him.

Well, it looks like Judai forgot one of Yuri's simple rules; you can run but you can’t hide – not from him.

“I can’t believe this!" Yuri let out a loud laugh as he shook his head in disbelief, amazed by the situation. "So let me get this straight. You decided to date this guy and completely trust him when you don’t even know anything about him? Like the fact that he’s from a completely different dimension? Oh, this is absolute gold!” Yet as much as Yuri absolutely loved the idea of tormenting this lame Synchro user, there was a certain someone missing the show! Now Yuri certainly couldn't have that, could he?

Yuri couldn’t stop himself from letting out a light huff at Yusei’s words, his purple eyes never leaving his book as he sat in the mechanic’s garage, waiting for him to finish on the last of the repairs to his motorcycle. Yuri didn’t mind the conversation all that much, but he didn’t realize that part of the deal was apparently having to listen to Yusei’s apparent love for brunettes. Yusei, you weren’t subtle in the slightest.

“Yeah, uh,“ he scoffed, turning a page of his book as he had finished skimming through it, "judging from the way you and Jaden like to practically suck each other’s faces any chance you get, I kinda got that.” Once Yuri was aware that he wasn’t going to get anywhere near finishing the rest of his book thanks to that sudden distraction, he let out a sigh and put his book down, finally looking up at the mechanic to figure why he suddenly wanted to gush about his partner.
