New Tales From the Borderlands Part 10

A pair of Tediore soldiers patrol the halls of the their war HQ. As usual, it’s quiet, with very little to watch out for. They pass the time gossiping about their colleagues.

“And did you hear about Pete?” one asks.

“And his botched nose job?” the other laughs, “I wish we didn’t have to wear helmets all the time so we could see.”

“I know! It must look hilari-.”

He gets cut off as a bladed fist smashes through his mask, crushing his face. His partner barely gasps before his throat is sliced open by another blade and he chokes on his own blood. Both are dead on the floor in seconds.

Skies stands over the bodies, wiping the blood from her arm blades before she continues jogging down the hall.

She skids to a stop when she spots a map on the wall and carefully examines it. “Okay, I’m here...my guns should be...here...? Or here. Maybe? How do I even get there? The next right...? Er...left. Gah! I’ve gone through mazes less confusing than this place!”

She huffs with annoyance and continues forward, resolving to just kick open every door.

For the next few minutes, she does just that, finding mostly empty office rooms. But finally, she strikes gold and enters a small lab with a pair of scientists examining her Atlas assault rifle and vintage Hyperion pistol. They stare at her like a skag in headlights as her vision goes white with rage.

“Those...aren’t...yours!” she roars and charges forward. The scientists scream before she descends upon them, blades ripping and tearing.

Skies soon leaves the room, lovingly stroking her guns, removing any remains of the scientists. After loading them with ammo, she holsters them and sighs happily.

“No sign of my ECHO, my coat, or my bombs,” she muses, “but at least I got my babies back. Now-.”

She’s suddenly interrupted when the building seems to shake. She quickly steadies her footing and crosses the hall to a nearby, sealed window. She opens the blind and looks out to see the neighbouring buildings are suddenly getting lower.
