There actually was a time when I felt like I knew every band and record out there, every movie as it came out, and chose accordingly--often chronologically. Nowadays, there are so many bands, books, movies, and products coming and going that it's impossible to personally keep track anymore.
Certain sidekicks, B-movies, one-hit wonders, stunt butt actors, and odd books are in danger of being forgotten completely.
That makes me sad.
So I have decided to salute those people and things I fear may disappear from our collective memory forever.
Remember Norm McDonald in A Minute With Stan Hooper?
Stan Hooper does a popular network TV minute every week out of a Manhattan studio. He decides to move to Waterford Falls, Wisconsin with his wife Molly where they find a quirky band of locals.
"As you all know, Newsline is the highest rated news magazine in America and my segment A Minute With Stan Hooper has been called the most popular minute on television. There I am, Stan Hooper, every week i tell real stories about real people. The problem is I've always done it from this phony set in a studio in midtown Manhattan. Well not anymore folks, not anymore. Big city, Stan Hooper moving to a small small town....."
