They would have been pining for ages, secretly letting each other know in ways words can’t quite describe. Despite the small touches and grand gestures, they still say nothing aloud.

Until one of them says something minuscule, like a compliment said a little bit too lovingly, and the other turns it into a whole big deal. They’re arguing back and forth until the good old fashioned “Shut up.” “Make me.”

And they do. The ‘shut up’ one pulls the ‘make me’ one into a long awaited, tender kiss that leaves both their heads spinning because WHY DIDN‘T THEY DO THIS EARLIER?!?!

The kiss is shortly followed by a “God I love you.” from one of them. The other responds quickly: “Luckily for you, the feeling’s mutual.” The kissing resumes.

PEPPERONY

Sure, there was the kiss on the rooftop near the end of IM2, but I don’t actually think they said ‘I love you’ then or any time immediately after.

I'm convinced it would be an unconscious decision on Tony’s part, perhaps just before Pepper decides to move in. Like, Pepper’ll bring some coffee down to the lab or something and Tony just impulsively says “thanks, Pep. Love you.” as she goes to leave. Pepper turns in a stunned silence.

“Did you just say…for the first time?!”

“Yeah…I can take it back! D’you want me to take it back?” - Tony, holding his hands up in surrender.

Pepper simply grins as the words replay in her mind. She whispers a barely audible ‘no.’ before leaving Tony to his own devices.

Tony allows himself to laugh and be proud of how much he meant it.

STAMORA

Peter would set up a nice meal for the two of them (or as nice as he can, considering they’re on board an unkempt ship) and tries to be romantic, but fails miserably due to the nerves.

He’s practiced the hell out of what he wants to say and yet he’s stuttering like crazy, ringing his hands and running his fingers through his hair. Gamora eventually gets the hint and wonders how this mess in front of her was the man she loved.

When she gets tired of Peter’s babbling, she reaches across the table, grabs him by the shirt and kisses him. They break apart and she just says “love you too, idiot.” and walks off.

Peter doesn’t move for the next half hour.

He’s smiling like a dork the entire time, though; he thinks he did something.

BUT. they are... very sweet. u have this. VERY dangerous very strong very pretty woman who is so complex and has so many unresolved issues and should definitely go to therapy and. some greasy skater boy with adhd who's just kinda doing his absolute best and like??? it's a vibe????? like my mans saw the most unapproachable unattainable woman and went "😳😍💕🥵🥺" and honestly king same. they're doing their best and like? they get such a married couple vibe it's so cute???

they're... they're having a barbecue... gamora has an apron... king shit. they just. they do vibe. gamora's sexuality is space himbo and i love that for her.

It also does help that Chris Pratt and Zoe Saldana have chemistry. That’s a big thing with romances that people tend to forget. Not only is Starmora built up to in a realistic way but both actors get along well together. Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany? It’s like watching a snail trying to romance a plastic flower. How can I be invested in their relationship when they don’t even seen invested in each other?
