[MY TRUE STORY] Between my mother and my grandmother there were 7 marriages. Between the two women ... my mother and my grandmother that was love to my little self - between 2 generations divorce, violence, infidelity, pain and suffering. At 56 years old, my mother on her death bed in hospice fighting cancer, going through her 5th divorce shared with me these words, she said “more than anything she wanted to show my sister and I that love works”. She apologized that she was not able to do that. See she had not seen love work with her mom and men and that affected how she loved. She started off wanting to do something better for me and my sister, but just couldn’t figure it out on her own. She kept trying though. until her death at 56. I committed myself to my own personal development in the area of love and cultivating healthy romantic relationships at that moment because I knew my mom did her BEST with what she had. She had never been taught how to be in relationship with a man, how to cultivate real connection, her role in loving herself and truly understanding her needs and wants AND she really didn’t even understand how to love a black man. She didn’t understand their needs and how to give them what they needed. That was almost 15 years ago. I will be 59 in January. I did the work on myself. I committed the time and getting the help I needed. Now for the last 7 years, my moms desire to show me that love works... what she intended for me .... lives in the work I have committed my whole life to as a dating love and relationship expert coach and match maker .... and that is showing singles that love works by giving them the tools and help in their personal development to see that it can. As we move through racial injustice WE HAVE TO REMEMBER THAT BLACK LOVE IS APART OF THE MOVEMENT. It’s how ALL of US beautiful black people got here. To ALL my single brothers in sisters ...
