MD5212 - ST7 - Proposal for special festival
What would your specialism be?
I would love to run a Winter Jazz Festival in Cheltenham because I feel that the music surrounding the area would fit that genre. The jazz scene is quite big compared to other towns in Gloucestershire with places like, John Gordans, Harry Cooks and The Daffodil. I was also thinking it could work with Cheltenham Jazz Festival which takes place in summer. This would avoid clashing with the already famous Cheltenham Jazz Festival. Seeing the success of Cheltenham Jazz Fest, I know that there are huge crowds in this area keen to listen to jazz music.
What would be the USP?
I would have improv tents dotted around the site where local musicians are able to perform with spectators and other budding jazz musicians. This will be monitored by a live feed to promote the winter festival. We're also using local venues and volunteers from the nearby university. Furthermore, we're using local musicians alongside more popular acts.
Audience: Who are you trying to appeal to?
Similar audiences to Cheltenham Jazz Festival, so this will appeal to a really broad age range including families.
Curate an imagined line-up.
Stage 1 – Town hall
Jordan Rakei
TREE//HAUS
Population 7
Stage 2 – The Daffodil
Stephan Day
Ben Cipolla and band
Demi Marriner
Stage 3 – Hotel Du Van
Jacob Collier
Lily K
Lindsay Martin Group
Where would you do it?
Around Cheltenham.
Would you have any non-music attractions?
Food stands, bars, merchandise tent, art gallery
MD5212 - ST7 - Specialist festival
place holder
This song is consisting of many vocal melodic shapes. For the purpose of writing the melody for the vocals, we have used Zig-Zag, ascending/descending, arch, and wave melodic shapes.
Dan, Cat and I have agreed that the original version of the track was excellent and we have made only minor modifications to the recording.
We have decided that resting on the word "too" from the phrase “I know you want me, I want you too”. After trying to move melodic phrases, all collective agreed that these changes are transforming song ultimately we all decided to keep it as it wore. However, changes to the bass line in the chorus (we have alternated bass movement by using arpeggio mode) allowed the song to flow better.
