It’s not misogynistic but it is fucking weird to know someone is in a relationship and say you want six kids with them and it’s valid to be weirded out by that and wish the writers did better by Steve in s4. Even his scenes with Dustin were off (like Steve acted like he didn’t want to be around him and Dustin took too many jabs at Steve’s intelligence). Only Steve scenes I liked were with Robin but that’s my opinion. Not in here saying you have to share it but since it was in the tag…
Thank you for the ask, and of course I'll share, I wanted other people's takes as well.
I am just looking towards the misogyny comments. Being weirded out or not, and liking the character plot-line and interactions is very subjective, and it's fine if you found it weird. I personally did not as I read it as two separate instances with different motivation.
First when he shares his dreams of a big family with Nancy - it's an attempt to connect/be vulnerable. And Nancy takes it. I don't read her as being weirded our or disgusted at his dreams. At best she's a bit surprised/shocked - she did not expect this from him. It ends up as a nice moment in which they are able to connect.
Second time when he basically admits he still has it bad for her is them marching into death. I don't see him admitting it in any other situation. And it's okay if you find it to be weird, hell it's a big emotional leap in openness for Steve.
I can't comment much on the other points, but I do think Steve's relationships were more oriented towards Robin and Nancy, while Dustin was in the back-seat (he was more focused on Eddie).
