Leaning against the counter he eyed his reflection in the mirror. There were a few more gray hairs and a couple more wrinkles than he remembered having.

He shook his head slightly, as if trying to clear unwanted thoughts, then unbuttoned the collar of his shirt. A thin, pale line snaked upwards from his chest towards his collar bone. He followed his fingers in the reflection as they traced over the slightly elevated scar tissue.

Steve.

The name teased at the edge of his mind. How fitting, this scar on his chest, an ever present reminder of his biggest regret, the physical representation of his own shattered heart.
