The idea of Bruce Wayne speaking seductively into a binaural microphone, whilst also trying to sell you stuff (probably), tickles me. So, here you go :D even Clark isn’t immune.

Growing up, Steve never learnt how to drive, never had either the opportunity or the need. Unfortunately, as Captain America, everyone just assumed that Steve knew such ‘basic’ skills. But that’s fine, how hard can driving a jeep actually be?

All you need are the go pedal and the steering wheel.

… neither his passengers nor the mechanics appreciated his habit of stopping the jeep by running it into either a tree or the enemy.

… the serum massively boosted his night vision so he never gave it much thought, but then one of the guys finally showed him where the button is, and that does make things rather easier.

… he’ll admit that the lights come in handy, if just to warn people of their arrival when they get back to camp late, but if only there was a way to do that during the day?

(He is a bit disappointed that he never quite manages to get his head around the gearshift, aka the ‘go faster’ stick.)

All in all, he feels like he’s got this driving business down pat. He can get his team (mostly) safely within the vicinity of the latest HYDRA base. Then the jeep barrelling full-speed at the gates – lights on and horn blaring, rigged to explode on impact – makes for a great distraction!

Of course, there’s the slight challenge of getting everyone back out again. But it’s fine. There’s usually something they can commandeer, and even in Hydra’s modified vehicles he can usually find the go pedal and steering wheel.

Easy. He’s totally got this driving thing all worked out.

It was only decades later, that Steve discovered that the other Howlies all learnt to drive specifically so that, as much as possible, he didn’t have to.

Steve would really like to have been able to claim that absolutely none of this was surprising in the least. That, in the year and change he’d been in this new century, with this new team, they’d seen and fought enough bizarre things that this was nothing really too far out of the ordinary.

He’d already lost that bet once and learned the hard way that, sometimes, there just isn’t any such thing as prepared enough.

“I swear I read this in a book once…”

“Really? I just watched the movie.”

“First one to comment on my metabolism is volunteering for clean up duty,” Steve said dryly, not bothering to hide his smirk.

A brief pause followed his words and he caught the look exchanged between Clint and Tony. “I’m not naming names but it seems like a certain half of the team is uniquely qualified for this sort of clean up,” Tony mused.

Steve rolled his eyes only to duck automatically when a distinctly wet sounding thud sounded against the outer hull of the jet. He looked up and grimaced, not even needing to be able to see to know what it was. “How about,” he started. “How about we focus on the fact that this city’s being rained on by actual spaghetti and Hulk-sized meatballs. You know, the reason we’re here.”

“Oh, I see,” Clint nodded, eyes narrowed, “You can name names…”

“Do we even have any idea where it’s coming from?”

“The sky, it looks like.”

“Obviously,” he huffed. “But what is causing it to come from the sky?”

“Should we be looking for a kid-genius wanting to boost the tourism industry to save his little town?”
