Advice for Remy, Day 50. Sometimes the old things are the best . I’m all for the new - new innovations, new developments, new creations and new thinking. I’m an avid follower of the latest new thing to come out, to try and ensure I know about it before others (purely for my own smugness). But sometimes it’s good to look to the past - the classic, retro, and timeless. You’ve got an ever-growing a hugely varied bookshelf of amazing books which will no doubt be your close friends for years to come, with some great titles in there - Alan’s Big Scary Teeth being a personal favourite. But we wanted to make sure that you also had a selection of the classics. So there’s plenty of Dr Seuss and his wild rhyming (which seems to permeate into our day to day conversations), and towards the other end of the scale there’s a growing collection of classic Beatrix Potter books. This set was bought for you for Christmas by your Aunty and Uncle, and strikes a chord with me as I had the very same ones growing up. I like the fact that you’ll grow up having a really good mix of the modern and the classic, hopefully enjoying both as much as each other. After all, these books have been read by children and adults alike for almost 120 years, so they must be good. Now I just need to get you onto Mrs Pepperpot and my childhood literary reminiscences will be complete.
