Measures 25cm when complete using a 4mm hook. Uses less then 1 100g ball of yarn. Small amount in another colour needed for eyes if desired. If you want to make bigger then just use a thicker yarn or double your threads.

Eyes make 2
Its up to you donβt have to make eyes you could use toy eyes but youβd need to secure these before stuffing the body. You could just embroider eyes in place as well.

To make up just use a needle and thread and have a look at the picture. Nothing complex here.

Note:
A cluster [cl] is 3 dc into one stitch, with a sl st in the first dc of the cluster, to bunch it up and make a triangular shape.
INC = 2 sc worked into one stitch
DEC = Invisible decrease over two stitches
I use Caron Simply Soft yarn and an E hook (3.50 mm), and I use 9 mm safety eyes. If you're using thicker yarn, you might want to consider using a larger size with eyes, perhaps 12 mm. I'm not one to fuss with gauge, so use what's comfortable.
R1: 6 sc in MR (6)
R2: INC in each sc around (12)
R3: sc in first three sc, cl, sc in next five sc, cl, sc in last two sc. (12)
R4: sc in each st around (work a sc into each cluster) (12)
R5: sc in each sc around (12)
R6: [sc, INC] x 6 (18)
R7-12: sc in each sc around (18)
This is a good time to figure out eye placement. I usually align them inside the two clusters between R10 and R11.
R13: [sc, DEC] x 6 (12)
R14: [sc, DEC] x 4 (8)
DO NOT FASTEN OFF - keep yarn attached, unless you want to be creative and use different colors for the tentacles or something!
Make five short tentacles off R14, then two long ones, then one short one. You make them by chaining off R14, and sl st into R14 when you're done.

The two tentacles should fall exactly between the two eyes in the front. I've never had any trouble with them doing this, but I join my rounds instead of working in a spiral, so I'm not sure if that would change anything.
Once you have completed all the tentacles, fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing. weave it through the sc stitches of R14 and pull it like a drawstring bag. Fasten off, weave in the ends.
I'm pretty sure I didn't make any mistakes with typing this up, but if I did, let me know and I'll correct it! I'm rather new to typing them up, I keep most of them in my head, or I just reference one of the ones I've got lying around. However, I did go through this and match it up to the one I made myself a few months ago, and it should be right. I hope. o.o

I'm still going to sell them - for the people who can't make them on their own or bribe a friend to do it - but I'm confident people will still like them on the convention tables as they have so far. :D
