Snow is exotic to me. I didn’t see it until I was 16 and I still really don’t understand what it’s about. It’s so white and fluffy but then it’s also cold and wet. It looks like a marshmallow but then it melts and is all slushy. I love when the flakes are so big you can see their design but I’m always confused when the snow flakes actually land on me. How you do a simple thing says a lot about how you will a complicated thing. Same with the practice. The technique that you set up in Simple Bridge will carry forward to your technique in other backbends. Start with good technique and let it build rather than pattern bad technique and have to fix it later. Try this— 1. Relax the glutes 2. Use the strength of the legs and the pelvic floor to gently lift the hips 3. Engage the upper back muscles as the sternum reaches towards the chin 4. Internally rotate the shoulders and root them into the ground. 5. Keep the navel and lower abdomen drawn in while breathing gently with the diaphragm 6. Gaze towards the nose Tip: if your back feels good and your legs are burning after then you are on the path of good technique. I’ve never been skiing, but I’ve been to the top of the mountain 🏔 Here is a genuine question. I’m vegan. I don’t buy new leather items. But what do you about perfectly good things that you’ve had for years that still work? I have these old Uggs from more than twenty years ago and they still fit. So I dig them out of the closet when it’s going to be cold and snowy. Is it ethical to keep them and use them? Is it better for the planet to make less waste? Or should I give them away? What about vintage items? I don’t have the answer but I think about it every time I dig these shoes out of the closet. No one can be perfect and maybe I think that’s the key, that we are always willing to reflect and consider and be conscious of what we do and the impact of our actions.
