so I am biggest ‘Cole used to be the leader’ guy. to the point where part of the reason I stopped watching as a kid (other than finding other interests) was bc I was so pissed abt Possession arc where they pretend the ninja would be dysfunctional without leader Lloyd that my annoying ass could not finish it
HOWEVER. I did NOT read supplementary ninjago material as a kid. I did love the show and specifically sat down at 4pm every Friday to watch it air (when I could, aka when I was in VN and had CN accessfor free), and was also autistic lego builder as fuck over it, but I did not read magazines or have any of the books
so. MY THING IS. I swear to GOD they said aloud that Cole was the leader at some point within show. like called him ‘leader’ or smth of the like. I used to think this was in the pilot episodes (which in my mind WAS the official s1 for so long that I still sometimes call ToE s5), when Wu is introducing their titles (‘red ninja’, ‘master of lightning’, etc.)
