So here, I’m going to share a fun strategy that has won me several Ranked matches lately.

Be a jerk to the other team.

It’s true! There is a great way to win Ranked and be the worst possible person all at once!

Just be sure to use Gear that compliments this behavior. The Jungle Hat’s Main efficiency boost actually does wonders here, and its being Firefin brand makes it easy to have Efficiency boosts for the Sub too, which is also critical here. Other gear should all speed up your SuperJumps as much as possible. Possibly you could throw in a Ninja Squid too.

Here is the Strat.

During a battle, put heavy emphasis on placing Beacons all around. Your goal is opening options for you and your team to approach the objective. Of course firstly do what is needed to take and hold the objective.

Once you have control, eliminate all routes your enemy has to safely approach the battle. Usually a team will at first resort to Superjumping into battle, but if their Anchor (The dude being a makeshift beacon) in the fight is Splatted, they will then have to deal with your nonsense.

Place beacons. Too many beacons. All over their turf and especially plant some in visible areas as decoys.

Be a true jerk and harrass them as they try to evict your infestation. Squidparty to mock them as you flip between their area being just a general nuisance.

They will have to deal with you, and better mocking makes a better distraction. Get as many of their team invested in shooting you as possible. Your SuperJump boost will let you keep popping back in to continue this process, and as you irritate them more their need to seek out each individual beacon will grow.

Your Killer Wail Special should of course be used to splatter enemies that get by you through all this. An easy system is aiming for the tower or Rainmaker position. Or you can block their entrance point to the objective too if you have no better target.

I love the Splooshomatic. A constant stream of ink all over… It’s amazingly entertaining to barge into the enemy base and blow through ruining their stuff, placing Beacons, and ambushing everybody.

The Splooshomatic can paint walls in no time. It has enough Ink efficiency that I never notice running dry. Of course since I’m usually diving a lot I rarely have that issue anyway.

In terms of kills… Remember that while an enemy at short range is easily defeated with this weapon, long range enemies will require an approach option be present or you need have your Killer Wail ready.

Which isn’t that bad since this weapon will let you get that Special ready ridiculously quickly. I have won matches by inking terrain around the Splat Zones off around the borders, placing beacons and just shooting Wails towards the battlefield through walls and everything else.

No need for even direct engagement if you have gear fitted to get the Wail prepped faster.

So overall, I love it. In terms of laying ink it’s monstrously effective. In terms of offense it’s very reliable though limited in range. The special is exceedingly well integrated and enables a very unique playstyle for ranked battlers. The Sub Weapon was brilliantly chosen for this gun’s abilities to open up terrain quickly.
