I travel to towns I cannot point to on maps, I wake up there and I explore those abandoned places. It saddens me to see them overrun with flowers and weeds. I read the history of those towns and who lives there, the accomplishments they make.
I talk to the one who was in charge, and they always have something to say even after a decade of being untouched. In the prime of those towns, that is all I can see.
They are sleepy towns with dreaming folk, I invite myself into their homes and awe at their collections and the years they all spent together, only to be tucked away and neglected when things get busy or new shiny toys are brought forward.
They motivate me to stay grounded and endure each day and that if I were to run off, I would be just like them. You also have that power Damien, do not let it slip away.

There were evenings like this, where the warm glow of the sunset spread across the apartment's floor like a new carpet and the pair sat on the comfortable chairs near the large windows. Over time, Damien had learned that the entity often sought his company - not for any particular reason beyond knowing there was another presence there. Was it a tactic to bat away the loneliness that he was in denial about, or was it the ability to enjoy the knowledge there was a friend in the world?
It didn't matter either way.
They had been in a pleasant silence for a while - Damien skimming through the last of his work emails, Dark sitting in such a way that he could see the world beyond the apartment's balcony. When Dark began to speak, Damien dutifully locked his phone and put it aside to give his friend full attention. Sometimes, Dark's musings took on a form rather like cryptic poetry. Exploring abandoned places? Dark was one who could travel easily without following the rules of physics, or was it something to do with the 'Actor' person? A question that Damien decided was better kept to himself.
Instead, he let Dark continue talking. It sounded so distant and dream-like, yet haunting. How could there be so many forgotten relics of the past? Were these other 'stories'? It didn't bring much comfort knowing their endings brought a sense of misery and a reminder that some things are inevitable.
"I..." He didn't expect the matter to be turned to him. "I'll do my best not to be scared off. I'll also make sure to stick with you so you can keep on the right path."
