I’ve been wanting to write all day but all of my ideas slip from my hands like grains of sand draining through the cracks of my fingers.
So insert witch SJ (a common trope I've used a billion times I know) and wind spirit SY.
Witch SJ that rarely uses magic because of a curse, relying on spirits to help him go about his daily life.
Most spirits are small and brainless, following a person based on how much they like their energy. Shen Jiu, a person beloved by the spirits--a prodigy in the world of witches, naturally finds himself constantly swarmed by spirits.
Insert wind spirit SY that likes playing pranks on SJ. He's one of the strongest spirits around, one of the rare few that has a consciousness. As mischievous as he is he never causes any actual harm. He just likes bothering SJ.
Not everyone can see spirits, but those that can always see the little sprite nestled in SJ's hat--or even in his hair on rare occasions.
If LBH is in the picture then SY's pranks mostly happen whenever SJ's mean to the boy. SY doesn't cling to LBH because their energies are different and it is unfortunately much more comfortable for him near SJ. He gets to see the rare kind side of SJ that way anyways.
Usually the pranks are something small like blowing SJ's hat away or something like that, maybe knocking some ink onto a paper Shen Jiu's writing--just mild inconveniences mostly. Even with the pranks, SY's the tamest of the spirits. Most spirits are easily influenced by the emotions of others, should someone like SJ show a hint of dissatisfaction the spirits would get rowdy.
Like most witches don't interact with spirits much because of how quickly spirits can switch moods. Unlike humans, spirits have no moral code when it comes to killing. It's about who they like and who they don't.
The only time SJ's ever seen SY get agitated is when they'd argued and SJ told him to go stick to LBH since he liked the boy so much. That day SY nearly caused a tornado. SJ ignored him for a good while and SY's never had another outburst like that. In the end they both "apologized" because they were both in the wrong. (No verbal apologies, just their own little ways of saying sorry lols.)
