Already dripping in sweat. Am I doing this right? Shit I’m working too hard. And my proximity to the subwoofer is less than ideal for the headset mic… some audio girl I am. It’s my first DJ gig all over again, except it’s 5:30am & I’m on a bike. Everyone is on a bike and we’re all just drinking water so nobody is going to vocalize whether I’m doing it right or wrong. Not even at the drop - how strange. But even though the bikes are stationary, the lasers & bass bring me a bit closer to home. Maybe not home, but a familiar place.
That magic garden of idea, the conscious river of liquid life. How in the hell did I wind up back here? I thought that the trees had stopped bearing fruit, and did not expect my premeditated harvest to yield such fair crop—seven little dance tracks, all in a row; slight compression on the vocals, & on with the show! Easier said than done… by the end of that RL Grime edit I’m struggling to breathe around the microphone. It sounds like the attendees are a little winded as well, I guess that’s a good sign but who knows.
I untangle the headset from my sweaty mane & hand it back to Jenna so she can teach the rest of her class. She is encouraging & extremely positive, and I hope I can be like her when the time comes. This week I am a guest, jumping in with other instructors, but Kandace says soon I’ll have a class of my own. Am I gonna be able to do this for an hour? Teach two in a row? Oh boy.

Monday - team teach Cycle 45 w/Jenna @5:30a (The Dailey Method Oak Park), Zumba w/Amethyst @6:30p (Blast! Fitness Lombard)
Tuesday - team teach Cycle 60 w/Kandace @8:30a (TDM Oak Park)
Wednesday - Zumba w/Amanda @7:30p (Blast! Lombard)
Thursday - Zumba instructor FaceTime audition @6:30p (Blast! Downers Grove)
Friday - team teach Cycle 45 w/Bill @5:30a (TDM Oak Park)
and I’m still putting in 40 hours at Sam Ash. That girl in charge of the DJ/Audio department, knows her shit more than you think but you’re gonna give her a hard time and just shop with one of the guys ANYWAY I’ve also got to get my Ableton project loaded for this gig at the end of the month. That one will be a party, with dancing & debauchery, libations & Lady Gaga mash-ups. And I can’t wait to hear how my studio work from last week turned out—I love recording cello at the Jam Lab. Scatterbrained & busy AF? Sounds like Kristina.

I literally just squealed when I saw him in my latest re-watch.
This weekend: had my first açai bowl, adventured around an unfamiliar city, hung out in a hot tub, got certified to teach Spinning, consequently worked out for 3 hours and killed my legs, got three free juices from the nicest employee at a juice bar, and did a lot of driving.
