A spice blend will give your hot cocoa a little extra warmth and flavor. This delightful and comforting beverage with a hint of spice is made with nutmeg, cinnamon, and cayenne pepper.
Ingredients: 2 cups of milk. 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder. 2 tablespoons of sugar. 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon. 1/8 teaspoon of nutmeg. A pinch of cayenne pepper. 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Whipped cream for topping. Cinnamon sticks for garnish.
Instructions: Mix the milk, sugar, nutmeg, cinnamon, cocoa powder, and cayenne pepper in a small saucepan. Stirring continuously, heat the mixture over medium-low heat until it is heated but not boiling. After taking the saucepan off of the burner, add the vanilla extract and stir. Ladle the hot chocolate with spices into mugs and garnish with a dollop of whipped cream. Serve hot, garnished with a cinnamon stick.
