I have finished Final Fantasy X.
Minutes ago I finished my all time favorite game ever, one that I have not beaten ever. I have had this game since 2003, my mom bought it for herself since I was only about 8 or 9 years old. Since I was so young I never really played it until I was a teenager and would always get stuck somewhere or end up losing interest, what with being in school. Now at the age of 21, I have finally gotten through the entire game, defeating the Omega Weapon, Sin, Jecht and Yu Yevon.Â
I started this particular game last summer and got all the way to Zanarkand and stopped. I was terrified of Yunalesca. I had to get Ultima before I even considered doing her. So this past month and a half of winter break, I just started leveling up my players. Around Christmas, I decided to fight her and the Spectral Keeper. Cake walk would be the right term. She was so easy I laughed when I won. It was so stupid.Â
Since Yunalesca was a goal for so long, obviously I had to make another goal.Â
He Is much stronger than any of what Sin had to offer. My thinking was that if I could defeat the Omega Weapon that Sin would be super easy. I was correct. I had to force myself not to use Holy or Ultima so that everyone could get their AP. Sin Overdrive was the one that was sorta scary to me because if he hits overdrive it’s game over. It only took five hits to overkill him. Everything was so easy after that too.Â
I’m not saying it was anti-climatic because it was still awesome! It’s the storyline that gets me every time. This time however, hit me harder than most because it was just me, I finally played through this game without asking for help. Needless to say I cried, sobbed even, watching the ending. One, this game was mine and my brother’s favorite game and he’s not here to watch the ending with me. Two, this has been the longest time that I’ve owned a game without beating it. Three, I have such a strong emotional attachment to each and every character in that game. They were my favorite group of characters.Â
There will never be a game that I cherish more than Final Fantasy X.Â
