i actually refuse to buy into the âAngel and Angelus are completely differentâ propaganda. iâm not sure if thatâs unpopular or not, so iâll say that i refuse to believe that Spike buys into that.
like, heâs the one person in the world who understands the whole soul thing and also one of two people who knew Angelus well enough to know that he had a personality outside of murder. he had motivations and thoughts other than hurting people, iâm absolutely sure of that.
anyway i think Angel and Angelus are very similar. Angelus is just Angel without a conscience. like Liam was a bar brawler before he was sired; if someone upset him, his instinct was to fight. i think that translated very easily into Angelusâ sadistic tendencies. i think Angelus was based on Liamâs personality and Angelâs just. grown up since then. so heâs less of an instigator, but heâs still a very abrasive person.
they act differently but theyâre as much the same person as a 70 year old man is to the guy he was at 26
in my head, Spike believes that too. he talks about âwhen we were evilâ, not âwhen you were Angelusâ. he blames Angel for making him a monster. he (like i mentioned in a prev post) still calls Angel âAngelâ when he doesnât have his soul. hell, he calls Angel âLiamâ once! i think he categorises them as the same person, which is why he hates Angel so much. not in a âyouâre a different person nowâ way but in a âyou made me and then you changed your mindâ way
spike what do you mean you and angel have never been intimate, excpet that one time...
the kinda-actually-canon nature of spangel is endlessly delightful to me. ESPECIALLY factoring in little throwaway lines and stuff from the comics.
theyve canonically had sex at least once. theyve also canonically kissed at some point. angel liked spike's poetry. spike got flustered when faith said he and angel had a bromance. there exists an in-universe action movie in which they kissed on-screen (and spike was a woman). they have both (separately) seen this movie. angelus pretty blatantly expressed sexual desire towards spike when they first met. they're willing to die for each other.
I think this would greatly improve their relationship đ©ž
