Early on in our relationship, you made me a little origami paper crane.
Dedicated to and based on a prompt by @spacewiix.
What is left of our relationship : a take-out order for two, memorised anger and bitterness and a desire to document the taste of failure a trash bag, full half a tube of superglue, leftover from fixing attempts a rumpled paper crane I can't let go of
Why I can't let go of the paper crane : you give one to every person you like I guess it means you liked me enough at some point the crane didn't do anything to me the crane doesn't deserve to die sometimes I think I am worth less than a receipt for Chinese food or one thousandth of a wish
Why you would leave me with one thousandth of a wish : I don't know you don't know how to want one person you only know how to want parts and how to wish like Dr. Frankenstein you forgot to take it back you are waiting for someone to pick up all your cranes you are waiting for someone to know you like a thousand people I made you think for a while that your wish was coming true you knew I had a soft spot for innocent things you didn't want to take that from me I don't know
(I’m still accepting poetry prompts until the end of July, don’t hesitate to send me an ask!)
