Donât let the space nerd (me) read I Am Number Four.
Lorien is supposed to be 10x smaller than the Earth and older and still support life?
Yeah right. I donât think so.
If it was that much smaller than Earth, and older, it probably wouldnât be able to sustain life. Its liquid core wouldnât be moving anymore since itâs so small---it would have cooled off a long time ago, like Mercury, Mars, or the Moon, and been geologically dead. The only reason Jupiterâs moons are still geologically active is Jupiterâs massive gravity and orbital resonances. No moving liquid iron core? No magnetosphere. No magnetosphere? No protection from solar winds.
And a sun twice the size of ours? While still small compared to some stars, thatâs a lot of solar wind on a planet 10x smaller than Earth.
Can I suspend my disbelief for aliens with superpowers? Yeah sure.
Can I suspend my disbelief for a planet 10x smaller than Earth and older than Earth that still supports life? Apparently not. *snorts*
