The reasons why Kagura was an absolutely VALID romantic option for Sesshomaru :
She's the one who awakened in him the feeling of empathy and compassion for the first time. Therefore, it's a complete COUNTERSENSE to claim, as *someone* are trying to do, that with Kagura by his side Sesshomaru would go back to being a ruthless k1ller. The change occurred in his heart and is ETERNAL; he doesn't need someone by his side to keep him "under control." The empathy and compassion that she awakened in him when she d1ed are indelible. To think otherwise only belittles Sesshomaru's character and his long and difficult, but ultimately victorious, journey towards a compassionate heart.
Kagura has demonstrated time and again that there were traces of compassion and the ability to create bonds within her heart.
The bond with Kohaku : Kagura cared for him, protected him, and tried to help him regain his freedom, seeing in him her own suffering under Naraku's control. She didn't treat him with indifference, but as a creature to be protected.
The relationship with Kanna : Despite both being Naraku's creatures, Kagura always showed a special closeness to her silent "little sister." We see them often together, showing mutual understanding and respect.
The attraction to life : A person who so desperately desires freedom and smiles upon seeing Sesshomaru one last time is a person who loves life. Someone who loves life and protects the weak (like Kohaku) has all the makings of a positive figure.
Furthermore, Sesshomaru would never try to save someone he recognizes as Naraku's moral accomplice. He recognized in Kagura a complexity that goes beyond her servitude to Naraku, to the point of being present at her final moment, and saw what *someone* refuses to see: Kagura's soul does NOT coincide with the actions that Naraku ordered her to do.
The union between Sesshomaru and Kagura would have been the union of two mature souls, two souls who have much in common and have known the darkness and pain in their hearts, two souls who have come to feel great respect for each other, two free spirits, two souls who have had to fight hard for their dignity. 🥰🥰🥰❤❤❤

kagura's death is what changed sesshomaru's soul. kagura's death was the first time he truly was able to care about another person on a deeper level. like yes he revived rin, but that was mainly out of curiosity. he kept her around, i dont know why, and eventually became protective of her as a sort-of-daughter.
but kagura he grieved over first. reviving rin was not enough to make tenseiga acknowledge his soul's transformation. kagura awakened his full emotional depth and capacity for love. kagura affected him so deeply that he fundamentally changed as a person. sesskagu is real
