Monument to the Luhansk Worker. photo by @serega.shpota On January 28, 1967 Luhansk region was awarded the Order of Lenin «for the success achieved by people in economic and cultural construction.» This event was marked by the installation of a monument. It's a sculpture of a worker who holds a torch over his head. The sculpture is mounted on a rectangular pedestal with inscription «To the worker of Luhansk region in honor of the 50th anniversary of October. The Buzludzha Monument on the peak was built by the Bulgarian communist regime to commemorate the events in 1891 when socialists assembled secretly in the area to form an organised socialist movement. It was opened in 1981. No longer maintained by the Bulgarian government, it has fallen into disuse. the monument is abandoned, vandalised, and devastated.
