This is a great paper outlining some flaws with Wilson's translation of the odyssey, and contains some useful references:
"Further, Wilson repeatedly tries to prejudice her readers against Odysseus in subtle and not so subtle ways. At the very start of Odysseusβ long narrative of his wanderings, she warns the reader against believing anything that may follow by extracting from ΟΞΏΞ»ΟΞΌΞ·ΟΞΉΟ14 (the heroβs stock epithet), βWily Odysseus, the lord of liesβ (9.1)...
