The show last night was AMAZING. I will write long posts when I get back (probably) BUT here are some teaser highlights:
-Front row! And hung out with Jessi aka soundsabound and had a great time. Looking forward to hanging with her (and her sister) again tomorrow. And Gerry (merch guy- altho tonight he was kinda being a roadie?) said hi to me when he came on stage to put the set lists out. He's so nice to remember me. :)
-New songs are rad. Heard one I haven't yet- "Someone Will." "Most People" is SO GOOD OMG. And since I've watched a YT vid of it a bunch I was the weirdo singing along with the choruses of the brand new song. lol
- Fiona Apple was a special surprise guest and sang a song (google is telling me it was a Conway Twitty cover- Make Believe.) I've never really gotten hugely into her music (but I guess I haven't listened to a ton of it either). But her voice was rad tonight. And Taylor kept grinning at how awesome she was. And she totally spoke to me and Jessi because she was like my name's on the set list- I want this. She then looked at us and kind of pointed and was like don't steal it front row. So yeah Fiona Apple talked to me.
- They did 2 sets and Blake played with them the whole time and they mixed his songs in with Dawes stuff. I did take the 1st set list (handwritten by Taylor- yay!) Some guy ended up coming up and taking Fiona's. Alas- Blake shoulda grabbed it for her. haha
- Taylor watching Blake play is so cute, omg. And he was dancing during one of Blake's song (idk if it was a cover or what). During "If I Wanted Someone" at the beginning Blake busted out this rad guitar lick and Taylor got this look on his face like woah- that is niiice. haha (It was btw. Blake is so good on guitar oh man. His slide guitar playing- WOW) And when Taylor and Blake "talk" back and forth with their guitars- so rad!
- Jackson Browne was there and Jason Boesel. We saw them walk out when we were outside after. I wanted to give Taylor some photos I had for him (Tried a few months ago on M&S and no luck) but he never came out in the venue and they were kicking us out. He then came out of the venue with some people as I was getting in my cab. Hopefully tomorrow night I can catch him. I'll just hang around a little longer. lol
- On the set list there were two times that he had two songs written next to each other and ended up choosing one to play. First was Million Dollar Bill/Love is All I Am, which was funny because he replaced MDB in the Indy set list to play LIAIA for me. Jessi joked look what you've started. haha A war between those two songs. And then on the encore was My Way Back Home and If You Let Me Be Your Anchor. They did MWBH, which <3, but I'm hoping they bust out Anchor tonight because it's been awhile since I heard it live and it's so rare. And they should do LIAIA too! They also cut How Far We've Come from the encore- I was hoping for some more Taylor singing guitarless. (BTW I think the Goldsmith strap has been retired? It was nowhere to be seen.) But they added in If I Wanted Someone, so yay!
- "Stupid fucking ring" happened. That is all.
- Taylor played piano with Tay during "Peace in the Valley" and Blake did the guitar solos and holy crap he killed it. Tay and Taylor stood up to were rocking out while still playing the piano. haha
- Blake called the Dawes guys his bros and said how happy he was to be there playing with them and how much he loves him. So sweet. He also called out (sorta) a girl who decided to shout something about "it's so funny" in a conversation while Blake was playing. He went (smoothly within the song) no it's not. People were a little rude and chatty and you could hear it especially with Blake's quieter stuff. Boo. I finally got Blake's album after, so yay! He has a lot of great new songs, so I'm hoping a new album will come next year.
- I clearly picked the perfect place to stand- between Taylor and Blake's mics- because Taylor came right to edge of the stage in front of me to solo a lot!
Alright clearly this turned into a long recap after all. haha Oh well. But if I remember anything else I'll write it up later.
