 he  doesn’t  come  out  to  make  friends      .      in  fact      ,      he  wouldn’t  have  come  out  at  all  if  it  wasn’t  for  steppenwolf’s  misstep      .      but  here  he  is  now                   and  it’s  been  a  while  since  they’ve  collected  together  in  the  same  place      .      and  yet      …      arthur  sits      ,      one  knee  bent      ,      the  other  hanging  off  the  small  cliff      .      the  others  are  a  few  yards  away      ,      squawking  about  who  knows  what      .      for  now      ,      it’s  only  he  and  diana  who  haven’t  gotten  up  yet      .      fingers  graze  a  grass      ,      plucking  up  a  small  few  pieces  and  playing  absentmindedly      .                      ❝          what’s  it  like      ?      on  themyscira      ?      you  all  just  spend  your  time  fighting  all  the  time      ?      is  that  how  you  got  so  good      ?          ❞

“ they never liked me either.  well . . . ”    he shrugs, a tiny smile softening the corners of his mouth.    “ they didn’t like me after i started conducting myself in such a disgraceful manner all those years in the capitol.  they didn’t care about me at all before my games  —  just another dock rat running around the piers. ”    talking about it still twists his stomach in knots, just as going into town in district 4 does.  though no one hisses slurs or turns on him anymore, saved only by mags’s presence, he still feels a bit of prickling anxiety.  effie walking alongside him doesn’t help;  they can spot she’s capitol from a mile off, of course.    “ you’re right.  they probably won’t ever like you.  but they don’t really like me either, so at least you’re not alone. ”    they only accept him now that they know the truth;  better than what effie gets, but still  —  not real.  he picks up a couple loaves of the bread annie likes, moving next to the milk for the baby.

      kya doesn’t want to admit how afraid she was in the moment. dangling off the edge with bumi , each second feeling like an hour leading to her ( guaranteed ) death. she remembers not minding it — that dying for her nieces and nephews and their culture is an honorable way to go. but she’s glad to still be here , and she isn’t done fighting.  ‘  hope you’re not too disappointed we survived. you’re still stuck with us.  ’ 

                    ❝    i  tried  a  new  approach  to  it  today,    ❞    the  cooks  were  definitely  surprised  to  see  their  firelord  enter  the  kitchen  and  ask  them  for  help  in  perfecting  his  uncle’s  tea.   of  course,   they  were  oblivious  to  the  specifics,   and  he  eventually  had  to  ask  them  to  leave  due  to  his  frustration.   nonetheless,   zuko  believed  he  did  better.   still...   he  wasn’t  content  with  how  it  came  out,    ❝    of  course,   i  could  never  surpass  your  skills.    ❞
