This is the quickest way to get under his skin; if someone is to know all about him, Illya would much prefer to know at least as much about them in return. Being observed from afar sets off alarm bells in his head that every so often devolve into something base and borderline hysterical. Currently he does not wish to threaten this woman with violence, but he can’t foresee what might come next, and that bothers him.

“I don’t care that you have managed to get this far, you don’t have the required security clearance so you need to leave, now” Rebecca said impatiently, she’d had enough stress for one day, didn’t need this woman making things worse.

Jim is not in the habit of paying much mind to Mrs. H’s girls. They’re there because the building is a shared lexicon of corruption, because Mrs. H makes an exceptional neighbor, and because every once in awhile the girls may be useful in distracting or entertaining clients, and in turn the people Jim pulls in for consulting are far more likely to spend money on some indulgence they’d never actually planned for. A handful of them are intrigued and curious, but most of the girls seem to be afraid of Jim, if they betray any opinion at all. 

One thing that is almost guaranteed to attract the criminal’s notice is something out of place. Subtle shifts, changes, variations from the norm; Jim is almost freakishly attuned to how things ought to be, and notices anomalies in familiar patterns. Something here is not the same as it was yesterday. 

Her heels click loudly against the floor as she strides slowly across the room, toward the man that sits at the ornate desk in the center of the room. She flashes him a warm and almost innocent smile as she takes a seat in one of the chairs across from him. 

“You must be Sebastian Moran.”
