“I am paying attention.” Moriarty insisted, his eyes not moving from a mathematical problem he was working on. So what if he was multitasking? He was capable of playing about with numbers and listening to Moran ramble on about guns.

Besides, was he really needed in this part of the conversation? Moran was an expert in what he did, and the professor trusted him to be able to get on with his job without needed his hand held.

Her heels click loudly against the floor as she strides slowly across the room, toward the man that sits at the ornate desk in the center of the room. She flashes him a warm and almost innocent smile as she takes a seat in one of the chairs across from him. 

“You must be Sebastian Moran.” 

It’s been DAYS, and he hasn’t said anything of importance. Not an explanation, not a ‘I kidnapped you because -’, it’s all been simple things. Take a look at this through a microscope, test this, read that.                                           And she SHOULD be righteously angry, furious even. Every time she remotely works up the n e r v e to say anything, she meets his gaze and BLANKS. 

His eyes are a fathomless blue, different from HIS and dare she think it - prettier. The man himself is remarkably pretty, and PRETTY has a history of making her go stupid. It’s currently another one of these moments where he jerks the gun at her in a shooing motion and she parts soft, pink lips to say - 

“You w-want me to do what?”

when he gave jobs to sebastian, it was because he wanted something done well, and he wanted it done in a timely manner. yes, he knew things could be high risk, and he knew he had enemies, but sebastian wasn’t the chief of staff, wasn’t moriarty’s favorite because the title was pretty. he was damn good at what he could do, and jim had hired him to do it, first and foremost. 

so why it was taking so long this time was unnerving. 

sure, the man had been late before. sometimes he acted irrationally or got caught up on an idea he thought better than jim’s. sometimes the plan didn’t go accordingly. shit happened, such was life, such was crime. there were always contingencies in place. that was why he would send sebastian on such assignments, after all. the man could make the most out of annoyances, find a way to get himself out with minimal losses. and when he knew there would be a delay, he always let jim know somehow. sebastian knew how much the criminal liked to keep to schedule.

jim waited, spinning his phone in his hand, waiting for the message that would explain why his sniper had not yet returned. the time that he’d set for the man’s returned had long since passed -- perhaps it had only been several hours, true, but it was unlike his best to be so informal. something about the situation felt... off. the sun kept sinking, papers on his desk were left untouched, and the phone kept flipping over and over in his fingers, but each message received was checked for sender before ignored. 

7. how does your character feel about sex?

jamie’s a weird one. like he loves sex but it’s also not a necessity. yeah, he’ll go to a bar and pick people up, and has slept with many a people and been the one to leave after a one night stand, but also? can be so focused on his work, his books, just living life and being home alone that it doesn’t even hit him that other people? are alive? (that’s not to say he’ll please himself because he doesn’t. not his thing. he just. stops thinking of sex at all) 

but also sex is a very loose thing. it can be rough or it can be soft. he can be top or bottom. any gender. he’s pretty flexible (literally, but also in terms of what people need out of him, what they want from the sex, what they like). 

he’s really good at being what someone wants. 

it’s when he puts himself into that things get interesting. but that doesn’t happen often. 

8.how many friends does your character have?

also a hard question. jamie technically has friends all over the world. he could walk into a bookshop in a tiny town in some unknown, remote location and have a friend there. it’s part of his real job, making connections, but also just who he is? naturally charming, easy to get along with. 

he’s got two close friends in london, though. leah and carl. leah is the local cafe owner. jamie bought her cafe when it was at risk of being closed after leah’s husband left her, and she couldn’t pay the bills and take care of her daughter. he regularly sends her money and frequently stops in to try her new creations, and tell her daughter stories of his travels. when he goes away, she watches the shop and his cat.

carl is another bookshop owner, an older gentleman (sixties) who keeps an ear out for books jamie might want. he knew jamie before he left london for five years, knew jones before he died, and thinks of jamie like a son. when jamie travels, he sends any books he buys back to carl for safe keeping until he returns. 

11. for what would your character give their life?

jamie is pretty self-sacrificing, not gonna lie. literally, if it came down to him or something else, anything else, he’s putting himself in the way of fire. his shop, his cat, sebastian, his brother, a stranger. doesn’t matter. he’s ready to die, and he would much rather he die than someone else.

it felt... odd being back in a place he had sworn to never return to. especially since he’d brought someone with him. in a way -- it both felt like he was cheating on a memory by making a new one, but also felt as if he were fixing the same memory by writing it anew. he stood for a long time, probably longer than he should have considering sebastian was with him and likely had no idea what was going on, just in the middle of the street, staring down with a twisted look on his face that was half pained, half reminiscent. almost as if he’d never left.
