I’ve heard actual doctors give this advice, but I think it’s all BS.  Unless you have untreated diabetes or you’re on a very strict keto diet, your body regulates its blood sugar in a pretty narrow range.  You’ll be around 70-140 mg/dL regardless of what you eat.  If you eat more sugar than your body can use right away, it gets stored as glycogen or lipids, not kept around as literal sugar crystals.

You did the right thing. Also pretty sure that thinking you did something wrong is the normal reaction to witnessing this kind of thing. My mum once founded a hanged man in the forest while walking the dog and afterwards, even though she called an ambulance, she was sure she should have cut him down and performed CPR. Like. That man was there the entire night most likely. It's normal to be irrational and think that there MUST have been something more you could have done.

NORMALLY I also try to scratch together at least SOME compassion, especially for people who are uneducated, disoriented and SCARED. But the sheer callousness, this whole "oh thx for your sacrifice we'll be taking your meds away it's not like you'll ever get better anyway", the shit people come up with to justify this homicidal shit... Yeah, sorry, I'm human. I have LIMITS.

And the limit is reached when you actively withhold proven medical care from people in need because the resident snake-oil salesman has stirred up hopes that it might hypothetically save your own ass in some possible future scenario WITHOUT PROOF OR ANYTHING.

And it’s also reached when you’re so fucking… what’s the word, blasé? About it. “k thx for dying in my stead or something not like you and i are equally important or anything”. GET REKT. 

FUCKING RIGHT?!?!?!  Like, the ignorant I can understand.  The people in the hospitals being given the medication likely have no idea, if they even have a say in it.  People in trials probably also have no idea.

But fucking pharmacists, doctors, and drug companies are damn well aware this is Not Okay and are doing this shit anyway!?  No.  Those folks 100% should know better, and some of them at least do know better they’re just choosing not to be better.

Like, that “thanks for your sacrifice” thing is horrifying beyond words.  It’s.  I can’t even express how horrifying it is that they’re making preemptive decisions about who they’re gonna let just straight-up die.

Like, this isn’t a case of “two people in the hospital are in critical shape but we only have the resources to treat one”, which is a horrible decision and my heart goes out to the healthcare workers who are facing those decisions, nobody should have to make that decision but people are forced to sometimes, now especially.

But this isn’t like that, this is preemptively deciding some lives are just expendable.
