Agree that Darcy’s pride comes from a whole collection of things, not specifically the Fitzwilliams or Pemberley. But Darcy himself attributes it to his parents: “I was given good principles, but left to follow them in pride and conceit. Unfortunately an only son (for many years an only child), I was spoilt by my parents, who, though good themselves…allowed, encouraged, almost taught me to be selfish and overbearing…”

yeah it was really interesting. i liked how they focused on the women (georgiana, the double duchess, adele astaire, kick kennedy...) it made me want to learn more about all of them.

somenewgrace: I went to Chatsworth last year, and honestly, no one should be that rich. It was overwhelming.

She didn’t get very far - about 4 chapters in, maybe? I still live in hope that she might finish it one day (Forces is my all-time fave P&P fic). It’s not substantially different in terms of plot, but in style, it’s a bit cleaner and more polished. And the footnotes are gone :(
