“ you were with your family.”

“Not the family that needed me. I’m sorry I wasn’t there. I didn’t even… i didn’t even get to say goodbye.”

“I’m glad.”

“What?”

“I’m glad you were in Texas. For the first time in months I was actually happy you were far away from this. God Eddie. It was so bad. Everything was so bad. Chim was dying, hen had a collapsed lung, Ravi almost died from lack of oxygen, and Bobby-… died. If you were there, what could have happened to you? What if you got infected too?”

“What if I got out with you. I could have helped you.”

“You could have died. I’d take you being safe over being with me every time. I don’t know what I would’ve done if I lost Bobby and you- I can’t think about it. I don’t have the emotional capacity to deal with Bobby’s death. Both of you? I’d never get off the ground.”

“I wanted to be here for the team, for you.”

“You are. Right now. We can be here for each other. This is when we needed you here and you came. That’s what matters. Bobby wouldn’t have wanted you there either.”

“I didn’t get to say goodbye.”

“He knew you loved him Eddie. You said bye before you left for Texas.”

“But I didn’t know I was never going to see him again!”

“Would you have changed what you said if you did?”

“Maybe?”

“He knew what he meant to you. He loved you like he loved all of us. We were his kids. He knew that.”

“Tomorrow isn’t promised to any of us…”

“Yeah, I guess we should know that by now.”

“I’m never leaving again.”

“Eddie-“

“I’m not. I’m staying in L.A. and Chris is staying with me. I know who’s important in my life. I’m not leaving you again.”

“Maybe… Maybe I don’t want to be in LA.”

“Buck?”

“Maybe, I can come with you to Texas. Help you fix up the house.”

“Buck the 118 is your life.”

“Bobby was the most important person to me there, and you were too. I love everyone else obviously, but I can’t live here without Bobby. And I could barely live here without you. I think I need a change anyway. When everything is falling apart you should take a step back right. I’d feel better if I could do that with you.”

“Okay… okay. We can go back at least until Chris finishes the school year and a bit of the summer. But then I think we should consider coming back to LA. This is our family Buck. We need to be here.

“You’d be okay with me moving in to your house?”

“I mean you kinda already did. I would just be in it this time.”

“I think I’ll like that a lot more.”
