ur art reminds me so much of the illustrations of soviet era picture books i read when i was little (in a fantastic way) it makes me smile every time u come across my dash))
Thank you very much! I take a lot of inspiration from Soviet illustrators and I’m glad it shows
And since I’ve gotten a chance I’d like to tell about my favorites:
Leonid Soifertis - an illustrator in Krokodil (Crocodile) which was a Soviet (and even post-Soviet for a bit) satiric magazine from 1922 to 2000. Although I love his work for Krokodil, I can’t really take my eyes away from his sketches of mundane life
Evgenii Shukaev - another illustrator from Krokodil whose works I adore for their extreme expressivness
Mikhail Petrov and Vitalii Goryaev - also from Krokodil. I look up to their style alot when I’m going for an illustrative kind of approach
Anatolii Kokorkin, Oleg Vasilev, Mstislav Dobuzhinskii - they’re known for their fairytale illustrations. I like how they use flat colors to set up the color scheme
Sadly Tumblr doesn’t allow to post more than ten pics in one go! I’ve got a whole bunch of inspiring great art to share :)
