Simon is really smart. We watch him create a mental map based purely on the shitty map he was given and coordinates that may or may not be accurate (plus some visuals from the radiation camera), but this is still the guy who drank isopropyl alcohol. I think about that a lot. Every smart person seems to have a blind spot, and I guess Simon's is drinking random shit he finds in hidden compartments. Never mind the fact that it's probably for sanitizing tools used to heal a wound. It's GOING DOWN THE HATCH.

I love how this fandom saw the "I Had Potential" shirt and immediately decided it was for Simon and Simon only.

Why have I not seen one post about Simon struggling with phantom pain? There's so much potential there, so much opportunity for suffering post SM-13. Not only does this guy have to heal from a lifetime of darkness, anxiety, violence, and pain, he has to deal with the trauma he sustained in the lung. Both due to what he witnessed and experienced, but because he now has a new irritating pain that nothing seems to help making everything worse.

More people need to remember that Simon JUST lost his arm. That's going to come with a whole range of issues, both physically and psychologically. He's smart, almost genius levels smart, but that doesn't mean he'd adapt to having a single arm IMMEDIATELY. Make that man struggle to put up his hair, or open things. Hell, you could even say he was left-handed and now has to learn how to write with his right hand instead of his left. Just make him fumble things due to his new disability. It wouldn't be a clean transition. Simon is INCREDIBLY capable, but even the strongest people struggle when it comes to their physical limitations and how frustrating that can be.

Something about Grace that kind of cracks me up is the fact that people write/draw him working on lesson plans, but after like, a year or teaching or so, he wouldn't be writing entirely new lesson plans. He'd just be adding/updating them. Maybe it's not common knowledge, but teachers don't actually write their lesson plans that often. They'll have a set of baselines and make changes as they need to. The only time a teacher is really writing a lesson plan is when they're new, when they move to a new school, or the curriculum changes. Grace would likely have his lessons mostly planned out after about a year of teaching on Erid, although he would have those students for a long time, so idk. Maybe he would be writing new lesson plans whenever he felt he needed to. I guess that depends on the subjects he sticks to.

Imagine being one of Grace's students and seeing his face on a news report about the "brave souls who venture into space to solve the current crisis." I feel like that'd be such a confusing gut punch. Not only was that someone you knew, but they just sent your MIDDLE SCHOOL SCIENCE TEACHER into space to die. Insane.

Well that was fast. Chapter 1 of my Bloodymary fic is complete. It's insane what fixating on something will do for my motivation and my muse. I haven't written fanfic in literal years. 🤣
