Maybe, Solo
Requested by: @isabella-2025
Backstage at the arena, only minutes after his promo, Solo Sikoa stood behind the curtain and let the crowd’s roar wash over him.
As soon as Solo Sikoa walked through the curtain, he could still hear the crowd behind him.
Some were cheering.
Some were laughing.
A whole section of fans started repeating one of his lines from the promo, each time getting louder and more over-the-top.
Solo stopped in the hallway and looked over his shoulder at the curtain.
For several seconds, he didn't say anything.
Then his serious look broke.
A slow smile appeared on his face.
"Man," he whispered.
Isabella waited near the production monitors, arms folded, watching the whole thing. She tried to keep a straight face during his promo.
She couldn’t do it.
The moment Solo started showing off his new attitude, tossing out sarcastic comments and acting like the crowd's reactions really bothered him, Isabella doubled over laughing.
"There he is," she teased. "The funniest man on Monday nights."
Solo quickly tried to hide his smile.
"I wasn't trying to be funny."
"That somehow makes it funnier."
"I was being serious."
"You were arguing with twelve thousand people."
"They started it."
Isabella laughed as she reached him.
Solo put one arm around her waist and pulled his new wife close. As soon as she looked up at him, he grinned again.
"You liked it?" he asked.
"I loved it."
She placed both hands against his chest and kissed him.
Solo kissed her back right away, his free hand resting on the back of her neck as the arena noise faded away.
For a moment, there was no crowd, no crew, and no Monday Night Raw.
There was only Isabella. There was only Isabella, who had promised to love him through every version of himself, and Solo, who was finally starting to figure out who he wanted to be. Isabella's lipstick had left a faint mark near the corner of his mouth.
Solo didn't notice.
Or maybe he just didn't care.
Isabella wiped it away with her thumb.
"You like this new character, don't you?" she asked.
Solo's eyes lit up.
He tried to play it cool, but he couldn't hide his excitement.
"I do," he admitted. "I really do."
"I can tell."
“Nah, it’s different now.” Solo glanced at the curtain again. “Before, I’d just go out, do my job, and leave. When I was feuding with Kevin Owens, I barely spoke on the mic. My job was to be the enforcer, handle things, stand in the background, and look like I was ready to fight anyone who got in my way. I knew my role. I knew how people saw me.”
"The dangerous one."
"The enforcer."
"The man who looks like he wants to fight the person holding the camera."
Solo nodded seriously. "Sometimes the cameraman be too close."
Isabella laughed. "Solo."
"I'm just saying."
He looked down the hallway, watching as crew members rushed back and forth.
"But now,” he went on, “I get to show more of who I am. I can talk, react to the crowd, and actually have fun."
"You've always been funny."
"Don't spread that around."
"I think the secret is out."
Solo shook his head, but he was still smiling.
"The crowd is reacting to me more," he s "The crowd reacts to me more now," he said. "I feel it as soon as I walk out. They wait to hear what I'll say, repeat my lines, and make signs. Tonight, half the arena kept chanting 'Not Today, Kevin!' after I said it. Someone even had a sign that said 'Solo Sikoa: Snack King.' a bottle of hot sauce."
"I saw that."
"Did you like it?"
"I'm thinking about buying the company."
Isabella leaned into him, laughing against his chest.
Solo tightened his arms around her.
"And fans come up to me more now," he said. "At airports, restaurants, even when I'm just trying to buy snacks." It's because you buy enough snacks to feed an entire football team. They have plenty of time to recognize you while you’re standing at the register."
"My snacks are part of my training.”
“You bought four bags of gummy worms.”
“Carbohydrates.”
“And a family-size box of cookies.”
“Recovery.”
“You also bought beef jerky, two sodas and a bag of marshmallows.”
Solo stared at her.
“Why are you monitoring me?”
“Because I’m your wife.”
“That sounds like federal surveillance.”
Isabella grinned.
Solo’sSolo’s face softened. people ask for pictures now,” he said. “They tell me they like what I’m doing. Little kids come up wearing my shirts. Some of them are nervous, but then they see me smile and they start talking.”
“And how does that make you feel?”
Solo looked at her.
The excitement in his eyes turned into something deeper.
“I’ve never felt this confident in my career,” he said. “I feel like I can go out there and really be myself. Not just a part of me—all of me.”
Isabella reached up and touched his cheek.
“I’m proud of you.”
Solo rested his forehead against hers.
“I’m glad you’re here for it.”
“I’m not going anywhere.”
“You better not. We just got married. I’m not filling out any more paperwork.”
She slapped his chest lightly.
Solo laughed, kissing her forehead.
A producer rushed by, then suddenly stopped and pointed at Solo.
“That promo was hilarious.”
Solo straightened. “It wasn’t supposed to be.”
The producer blinked in surprise.
Isabella covered her mouth.
After a moment, the producer nodded slowly.
“Right. Of course.”
He walked away.
Solo watched him leave.
Then he turned to Isabella.
“You see what I mean?”
She burst out laughing all over again.
Minneapolis
By the time they got to Minneapolis for SummerSlam week, just a few days after Solo’s surprise promo aired on Raw, his promo was everywhere.
Clips played across social media.
Fans quoted his lines in hotel lobbies.
One person had even created a remix using Solo’s voice over a dramatic orchestra.
Isabella found it while they were riding from the airport.
She played it through the car speakers.
Solo’s voice boomed through the car, followed by violins, drums, and what sounded like a whole choir getting ready for battle.
Solo slowly turned his head toward her.
“Turn that off.”
Isabella held the phone away from him. “No, wait. This is the best part.”
His voice played again, followed by a choir singing dramatically behind it.
The driver began laughing.
Solo stared out the window.
“I don’t like either one of y’all.”
Isabella rested her head on his shoulder.
“Yes, you do.”
Solo took her hand, lacing his fingers through hers.
“Maybe you.”
She smiled.
Because they had a free afternoon before media obligations began, Isabella convinced Solo to explore the city with her.
Their first stop was a sculpture garden, where Isabella immediately insisted they take pictures.
Solo stood next to a huge piece of art with his hands in his pockets.
“Smile,” Isabella called.
“I am smiling.”
“No, you look like the sculpture owes you money.”
Solo changed his face a little.
“That is the same face.”
“It’s a different face.”
“How?”
“My eyebrow moved.”
“Solo, nobody can see that from twenty feet away.”
She walked closer, lifting her phone.
“Give me a real smile.”
Solo looked at her.
Isabella made an exaggerated face, crossed her eyes and puffed out her cheeks.
He laughed before he could stop himself.
She snapped the picture.
“Got it!”
“You cheated.”
“I used strategy.”
“You made yourself look crazy.”
“And you smiled.”
Solo walked toward her.
Isabella backed away, still holding the phone.
“Let me see it,” he demanded.
“No.”
“Isabella.”
“It’s going on my page.”
“You post that, I’m changing the Wi-Fi password.”
“You don’t even know the Wi-Fi password.”
“I’ll call somebody.”
He chased her down the path, both of them laughing until he finally caught her by the waist.
Isabella squealed as he lifted her slightly off the ground.
“Put me down!”
“Delete the picture.”
“Never.”
Solo set her down but kept one arm around her.
She turned in his arms and showed him the photo.
His face softened.
In the photo, Solo wasn’t posing.
He wasn’t acting like a character.
He was just looking at his wife and laughing.
“I like it,” he admitted quietly.
“I knew you would.”
They took several more pictures, including one where Isabella kissed his cheek while Solo pretended to be annoyed.
After the garden, they wandered through the city, stopping at a small bakery where Isabella ordered a pastry and Solo somehow ordered half the display case.
The young woman behind the counter stared at him.
“Are all of those for you?”
Solo glanced at Isabella.
“She asked me the same thing.”
“I did not ask. I judged silently.”
“You weren’t silent.”
They sat near the window, sharing bites of everything.
Isabella held up a pastry.
“Try this one.”
“I already had that.”
“No, you had the chocolate one.”
Solo pointed at the pastry. “That’s chocolate.”
“It’s cinnamon.”
“It’s brown.”
“That does not automatically make it chocolate.”
Solo took a bite.
He chewed and thought about it.
“Chocolate.”
Isabella stared at him.
“You know what? Fine.”
A little boy wearing a wrestling shirt approached their table with his father.
The boy couldn’t have been older than six.
He stood several feet away, gripping a small action figure in one hand.
Solo noticed him immediately.
The boy looked at Solo, then at his father, then back at Solo.
His father smiled apologetically.
“Sorry to bother you. He’s a huge fan.”
Solo wiped his hands and turned in his chair.
“You’re not bothering me.”
The little boy stepped closer.
His eyes were wide.
“Are you really Solo?”
Solo glanced down at himself.
“I think so.”
The boy giggled.
Solo leaned forward.
“What’s your name?”
“Eli.”
“You going to SummerSlam, Eli?”
The boy nodded quickly.
“My first one!”
“Your first SummerSlam?”
Another excited nod.
Solo held out his hand.
Eli slapped it, then stared at his own palm as though it had been blessed with superpowers.
“Can we take a picture?” Eli asked.
“Of course.”
Solo stood and crouched beside him.
Eli held up the action figure, but then frowned.
The figure was an older version of Solo, with a constant angry look and wearing his Bloodline gear from last year—the black outfit fans remembered from his early days with the group.
“He doesn’t look like you now,” Eli said.
Solo examined it.
“Nah. He needs an update.”
“You smile now.”
“Sometimes.”
“You’re funny too.”
Solo looked at Isabella.
She lifted her eyebrows triumphantly.
Solo turned back to Eli.
“Don’t tell nobody.”
Eli nodded solemnly. “I won’t.”
His father took the picture.
Before they left, Solo signed the bottom of the action figure’s boot.
Eli hugged him unexpectedly.
Solo froze for half a second.
Then his face softened.
He gently hugged the boy back.
“Have fun at SummerSlam,” he said.
“I will!”
When Eli and his father left, Isabella watched Solo sit back down.
He reached for another pastry as though nothing had happened.
But Isabella saw the small smile he tried to hide.
“You’re really good with kids,” she said.
Solo nearly dropped the pastry.
He looked at her.
Then he slowly placed it back onto the plate.
“What?”
“You heard me.”
Solo leaned back in his chair and looked at her face.
“You trying to tell me something?”
Isabella took a slow sip from her drink.
Solo’s eyes widened slightly.
“Isabella.”
She lowered the cup.
“What?”
“You can’t say something like that and then drink your juice.”
“I’m thirsty.”
“Are you pregnant?”
A woman at the next table looked over.
Isabella lowered her voice.
“Solo!”
“What? You started this.”
“I only said you were good with kids.”
“Then I asked if you were trying to tell me something.”
“And I haven’t answered yet.”
Solo stared at her.
Isabella let the silence hang between them. He stopped briefly toward her stomach.
Then he looked back at her face.
“Baby,” he said, his voice suddenly softer.
Isabella reached across the table and took his hand.
Her thumb brushed across his knuckles.
“Maybe.”
Solo blinked.
“Maybe what?”
“Maybe I’m trying to tell you something.”
His entire body went still.
His playful confidence faded for a moment, replaced by disbelief.
“Are you serious?”
Isabella smiled.
“I took a test before we left home.”
Solo stared at her.
“And?”
“And it was positive.”
Solo didn’t move.
Isabella squeezed his hand.
“Say something.”
He opened his mouth.
Nothing came out.
She laughed nervously. “You gave a whole promo in front of thousands of people, but now you don’t have any words?”
Solo stood so quickly his chair scraped against the floor.
Several people looked over.
He moved around the table, gently pulling Isabella to her feet.
Then he wrapped his arms around her.
He hugged her tightly, warm and a little shaky.
Isabella buried her face against his chest.
“Are you happy?” she whispered.
Solo pulled back just enough to look at her.
His eyes shone. He repeated. “I’m trying not to pick you up and run through Minneapolis.”
“Please don’t.”
“I’m going to be a dad?”
“You’re going to be a dad.”
A grin spread across his face, even brighter than after his promo. Both hands on her cheeks and kissed her.
It felt like the whole bakery disappeared.
When he pulled back, he kissed her forehead.
Then her cheek.
Then her forehead again.
“Solo,” Isabella laughed.
“I don’t know what to do.”
“You could sit down.”
“I can’t sit down.”
“You’re making people nervous.”
“I’m having a baby. They’ll be all right.”
The woman from the next table smiled.
“Congratulations.”
Solo pointed toward her.
“Thank you.”
Another customer began clapping.
Within seconds, several people joined in.
Isabella covered her face, laughing.
Solo stood beside her, looking prouder than if he had just won a championship.
“We’re keeping this quiet for now,” Isabella reminded him.
Solo looked around the bakery.
“Everybody in here, this is confidential.”
The customers laughed.
He turned back to Isabella.
“How long have you known?”
“Two days.”
“Two days?”
“I wanted to make sure.”
“And you brought me to a bakery before telling me?”
“You think better when you have snacks.”
Solo considered this.
“That’s true.”
He placed one hand gently against her stomach.
His face changed again, turning soft and almost amazed.
“There’s really a baby in there?”
“A very tiny one.”
“Our baby.”
“Our baby.”
Solo crouched in front of her.
Isabella looked down at him.
“What are you doing?”
He placed both hands around her waist.
“Listening.”
“The baby doesn’t have anything to say yet.”
Solo leaned closer to her stomach.
“Hey,” he said quietly. “It’s your dad.”
Tears filled Isabella’s eyes.
“I know you’re small right now,” Solo continued, “but I just want you to know I already love you. And your mama likes to keep secrets, so we’re going to talk about that when you get here.”
Isabella laughed through her tears.
Solo looked up at her.
“And I’m going to teach you everything.”
“Everything?”
“Everything important.”
“Such as?”
“Wrestling. Respect. How to pick good snacks.”
“Please don’t teach the baby that every brown pastry is chocolate.”
Solo stood.
“That’s advanced knowledge.”
He kissed Isabella again, slower this time.
When they got back to the hotel that evening, Solo turned into a one-man security team.
He held every door open.
He inspected the floor for obstacles.
He carried Isabella’s purse, shopping bag, jacket, and water bottle.
At one point, she stopped in the hallway.
“Solo.”
“What?”
“I’m pregnant. I’m not made of glass.”
“I know.”
“You just told the elevator operator to drive carefully.”
“He was pressing the buttons too fast.”
“There was one button.”
“I saw his attitude.”
Isabella shook her head and smiled.
Isabella grabbed his wrist.
“We are not telling people yet!”
“I’m not telling him.”
“You have the face.”
“What face?”
“The face you make when you know a secret.”
Solo tried to rearrange his expression. He tried to change his expression. " How do you look even more suspicious?”
Jimmy answered on video.
“Yo, what’s good?”
Solo held the phone too close to his face.
“Nothing.”
Jimmy squinted.
“Why you calling me like that?”
“Like what?”
“Like you about to confess to a crime.”
Solo glanced at Isabella.
Jimmy followed his gaze.
“Isabella, what did he do?”
“Nothing,” she said.
Jimmy sat up.
“Both of y’all acting weird.”
Solo pressed his lips together.
Isabella pointed a warning finger at him.
Jimmy’s eyes widened.
“Wait.”
Solo shook his head immediately.
Jimmy leaned toward the screen.
“Wait a minute.”
“We have to go,” Isabella said quickly.
“Hold on!”
Solo ended the call.
The phone rang again immediately.
He declined it.
A text appeared.
JIMMY: SOMETHING HAPPENED.
Another followed.
JIMMY: IS SHE PREGNANT?
Solo showed Isabella the screen.
She stared at it.
“How did he know?”
Solo looked offended.
“He’s nosy.”
The phone rang again.
Solo turned it off.
“He’s going to find us,” Isabella warned.
“He can try.”
Ten seconds later, someone pounded on their hotel room door.
“SOLO!”
Isabella’s mouth fell open.
Solo stared at the door.
Jimmy shouted from the hallway.
“OPEN UP! I KNOW Y’ALL IN THERE!”
Solo slowly turned to Isabella.
“He must have been on this floor already.”
“Or he tracked you.”
“I told you he was nosy.”
Jimmy knocked again.
“ARE YOU HAVING A BABY OR NOT?”
A second voice came from farther down the hallway.
“Jimmy, stop yelling!”
It was Trinity.
The door handle rattled.
“SOLO!”
Solo sighed and opened the door.
Jimmy burst inside, followed by Trinity.
Jimmy looked from Solo to Isabella.
Then his eyes dropped to Solo’s hand, which had instinctively returned to Isabella’s stomach.
Jimmy gasped.
“I knew it!”
Solo pointed at him.
“Keep your voice down.”
Jimmy grabbed his brother in a hug.
“My little brother’s having a baby!”
Solo hugged him back, laughing.
Trinity rushed to Isabella, wrapping her arms around her carefully.
“Oh my goodness! Are you serious?”
Isabella nodded.
“We just found out.”
Jimmy pulled back and grabbed Solo’s shoulders.
“You ready for this?”
Solo looked across the room at his wife.
Isabella was smiling through fresh tears as Trinity hugged her.
Solo’s face softened.
“I’ve never been more ready for anything.”
Before anyone else could speak, there was a sudden flurry of movement in the hallway. The door swung open again, and Roman appeared, taller and imposing, his arms folded as he surveyed the scene. He took in their faces, the uncontained excitement, and the way Solo was holding Isabella’s hand. For a long moment, Roman didn't say anything. Then the corners of his mouth turned upward in an approving smile.
"About time the youngest stepped up," Roman said quietly, clapping Solo on the back. "The family keeps getting bigger. You know you got all of us behind you."
Trinity grinned. Jimmy almost bounced with pride. And for once, when Solo looked at all of them, he didn’t feel the weight of expectations, just the warmth of their support.
Jimmy slapped his chest proudly.
“That’s what I’m talking about!”
“And nobody else can know yet,” Isabella said.
Jimmy mimed zipping his lips.
Trinity looked at him.
“You shouted it through the hallway.”
“Nobody heard me.”
From outside the room, a voice called, “Congratulations!”
Jimmy winced.
Solo stared at him.
“You had one job.”
“I got excited.”
Later that night, after Jimmy and Trinity finally left, Isabella curled against Solo in bed.
The Minneapolis skyline glowed outside the windows.
Solo lay on his back with one arm around her and his other hand resting gently on her stomach.
“You had a big day,” Isabella whispered.
Solo smiled.
“A real big day.”
“You made thousands of people laugh.”
“Mhm.”
“You met one of your smallest fans.”
“Mhm.”
“And you found out you’re going to be somebody’s daddy.”
Solo turned his head toward her.
“Our kid is going to watch that promo one day.”
Isabella laughed. “Probably.”
“I need to make sure the baby knows I was being serious.”
“The baby is going to think you’re hilarious.”
Solo sighed.
“Both of y’all already teaming up against me.”
“We have to keep you humble.”
“I just got confident.”
“You can be confident and humble.”
Solo looked toward the ceiling.
“That sounds complicated.”
Isabella moved closer and kissed his cheek.
“I love seeing you this happy.”
Solo turned toward her, brushing his fingers through her hair.
“I love seeing you.”
She smiled.
“You know what I mean.”
“I know.”
He kissed her forehead.
“This new character,” he said softly, “feels like I finally found something I didn’t even know I was missing.”
“Your voice?”
“My freedom.”
Isabella studied him.
Solo continued.
“I spent so much time trying to be what everyone needed me to be. The silent one. The dangerous one. The one who never smiled.”
“You’re still dangerous.”
“I know.”
“But now you’re dangerous with punchlines.”
Solo laughed softly.
“And soon,” Isabella added, “you’ll be dangerous with a diaper bag.”
His laughter stopped.
“A diaper bag?”
“Yes.”
“I can carry a regular backpack.”
“It needs bottle pockets.”
“I’ll get a tactical one.”
“A tactical diaper bag?”
“Black. Waterproof. Plenty of compartments.”
“For bottles and baby wipes?”
“And emergency snacks.”
“For the baby?”
Solo looked at her.
“For everybody.”
Isabella shook her head and smiled as she settled against his chest.
Solo covered her hand with his.
For years, confidence had felt like something that belonged to other people.
People who spoke louder.
People who smiled more easily.
People who never questioned whether they deserved their place.
But now, lying next to his wife with their child growing quietly under his hand, Solo understood confidence in a new way.
It wasn’t only believing that the crowd wanted to hear him.
It was knowing he had something worth saying.
It was walking into an arena and allowing people to see more than his anger.
It was laughing without apologizing for it.
Loving without hiding it, and looking ahead to a future that didn’t scare him anymore.
“Solo?” Isabella whispered.
“Yeah?”
“You’re going to be an amazing father.”
He swallowed.
“You really think so?”
“I know so.”
Solo kissed the top of her head.
“I’m going to protect both of you.”
“We know.”
“I’m going to make sure the baby has everything.”
“We know.”
“And I’m buying the tactical diaper bag.”
Isabella groaned.
Solo smiled in the dark.
“Maybe two.”
“Go to sleep.”
“One for traveling and one for home.”
“Solo.”
“With matching baby shoes.”
“Good night.”
He laughed, pulling her closer.
Outside their window, Minneapolis shimmered under the summer sky.
SummerSlam was coming.
The crowds were waiting.
Solo Sikoa’s career was reaching a new level, his confidence growing every time he stepped through the curtain.
But as he rested his hand over the tiny life he and Isabella had created, Solo knew the biggest role of his life wouldn’t happen under arena lights.
It would begin at home.
And for the first time, the man who had built his reputation on never backing down felt completely unprepared.
Completely overwhelmed.
And completely happy.
