Rosenkavalier: The Sequel
solointhesand:
Do you think something like the Pip incident happened aboard ship to Melville in real life?
i would be so curious to read an analysis of what stuff in his books is real versus what is made up/borrowed from other fiction (my impression is that itâs usually some combo of all three). at some point iâll probably read a biography although i imagine some of it is impossible to know.
my totally unqualified guess is that given how dangerous whaling was, it could have been something he heard about but didnât actually witness. that said, the pip story does a lot of work as a literary device in the book so it could be totally made up.....but either way, grounded in melvilleâs understanding of stuff that could plausibly happen to a person

I just want to say how grateful I am for you doing this work!
Aw, thank you! If, every once in a while, somebody else gets to hear a concert broadcast that they really enjoy but wouldnât have known about otherwise, then I am happy.

solointhesand replied to your video : Surely. Surely even in 1959 they knew how gay this...
How improper! Iâll have you know that vibrator was used exclusively for her chin, and nothing else. The very idea. Just mums being chums!
Just two gals, beinâ pals, sleeping on two beds deliberately pushed together with soft music on the tape player, and a built-in vibrator. Sure, the clip ends with them grinning at each other while the narrator says âsomething tells me these two will be up pushing buttons all night!â But thatâs just because theyâre happy about this great bed they bought. For their shared home.

Ohhhh you mean fucking an actual aria, not what's the best aria to fuck *to*. That'd be Addio, Addio O Miei Sospiri from Gluck's Orfeo.
NICE i fuckin love orfeo. the french version is the first track on marianne crebassaâs album so i know the french better than the italian #yikes. also i loved your answer as you initially interpreted the question, which is also validÂ
Most hated trope: "Oh, [THING]? That's just a story that old women tell to frighten naughty children." THING: [literally exists and then like eats somebody in the next scene or whatever]. Uggghhh it's just so trite and lazy. And also I feel like that kind of skepticism is jarringly anachronistic in most of the settings that it's used in.
"Oh," said Orlin, "I don't believe in that dragon. What would it eat?"Â
"Travelers," Temer said.Â
"There's not enough of them, we're in the literal middle of nowhere," she said. "Just cross the damn bridge. Nothing is going to happen." And she nudged her horse forward. Everian followed, and, after a little while, so did Temer, looking around nervously.Â
Fortunately for the band of travelers, it was summer, and the ice dragon was estivating.Â
