Stages of Project Environments (punctuated by the occasional catastrophe) 1) One env to rule them all 2) "Environment". Scare quotes because they are embedded in the code (think "Run the code with *this* flag for a TEST version.) 2) Huh. A Deployment based env - usually called" develop". 3) Feature branches! With PULL REQUESTS! Be still my beating heart... 4) A "staging" env, with actual "near production" testing (about when the organization discovers that Testing is a thing) 5) Environment-plosion, usually started by multiplexing -2- above with the deployment equivalents 6) Inventing (or discovering) #DevOps The order might change, but the catastrophes are certain 😅
