Personal Survival Gear - What Do You Need In Your Pack?
If you want to create the ultimate bug out bag, then there is no better example than what the Navy SEALs carry with them. There are so many different personal survival gear kits available that you may struggle to figure out which one is right for you. The reality is that if you ever find yourself in a situation where you need your kit, there will be something that you should have put in there. However, there is only so much you can carry as well. So, what do the Navy SEALs carry with them? It is unlikely that you will be able to carry as much, but the reality is that it is possible to carry all of these things by yourself. Remember, that they do carry two cases, one being a hard case (4x2x1/2 inches in size) and the other is a soft-sided case.
What's the Hard Case For?
The hard case is multifunctional. Of course, it can carry items, but it can also be used for cooking and digging. It must be fully waterproof and can be closed securely. It also has to have a 2x3 inch piece of Velcro or other loop fastener on the top. The case must be rugged and protect the items contained inside and these cannot move about and rattle.
What's in the Hard Case?
Firstly, it contains a stainless steel multi-tool that includes a wire cutter, pliers, a file and an awl. Next, it contains a quality AA button compass that is 14mm in size and liquid dampened. Additionally, it has to be luminous for at least 8 hours. Next, it contains a red LED squeeze light and a fire starting kit. It also holds a water storage device, which can double as a case to hold everything else in the kit. The hard case also contains 40 water purification tablets and two electrolyte tablets. It also contains a signal mirror and a thermal blanket, as well as a Kevlar line and four safety pins (2 #2s and 2 #00s). Next, it contains a P-38 can opener and some stainless steel wire. You will also find a roll of duct tape, a fresnel magnifying lens, waterproof note paper and an ink pen. In terms of first aid, you will find an antibiotic ointment and a cotton pad. All of this is vacuum sealed to keep it waterproof and to stop the individual items from moving about.
What's in the Soft Storage Case?
Then, there is the soft storage case. This contains a hacksaw blade and a ceramic razor blade, sharpened on both sides. Next, you will find a heavy duty moleskin adhesive patch and some Kevlar thread. You should also have a downrigger cable and fishing leader, as well as a suspended navigation magnet. Next, it will hold a ferro cerium rod as well as a wax-impregnated cotton ball and a variety of bobby pins. Finally, it contains a handcuff pick and a universal handcuff key. The case has to be made of a resin material that is non-magnetic.
