A double breasted suit in the right proportion is as masculine, as it can be in tailoring. A great choice for business appearances, it signals strength and authority. Be understated with your fabric selection, get it in a dark, plain fabric, preferably in navy blue. Same goes for the tie and shirt combination, make it simple, a white shirt with grey or navy tie will go a long way. The point is, that you get the most attention, not your dress.
No matter which silhouette you prefer, there is a strong case to be made for soft tailoring in the casual world of today.
The idea that tailored clothing must be formal is a rather outdated one. In fact today's standards are all about comfort and lightness. Most of these ideas are partly originated in Neapolitan tailoring, these are also the key aspects to it's growing popularity. Besides the incredibly fine handwork, the ability to tailor light fabrics in a soft construction makes these garments superior to others. More importantly it enables the wearer to look and feel as natural, as possible.
To further reduce the aforementioned formai aspect of tailoring, Neapolitan jacket are easy to pair with garments usually used in casual ensembles. Tweed with denim or worsted wool with jersey (pictured) are all small styling tricks, which help to appear more casual and comfortable, while looking damn elegant. However it should be noted, that these ideas work best, when tailored for a natural silhuette.

Boglioli AW17 Collection
Yet another prime example of unstructured classic Italian tailoring at its best. Simply put, it doesnât get much better than Boglioli when it comes to superb comfort and fit paired with luxurious fabrics. Be it through full suits or odd jackets, the result is a sophisticated soft tailoring approach without the rigidity of other classic brands. Plus, theyâve incorporated a hefty amount of petrol blue, one of my favourite hues for the season.
The Gigi SS17 - âDiving into the Blueâ Collection
An ode to the timelessness of blue in menswear, The Gigiâs SS17 collection revolves around the shadeâs unique sense of calm and tranquility. Aptly named âDiving into the Blueâ, the collection explores different shades of blue resorting to Indigo and Denim to showcase its full potential.Â
Classic staples are upgraded through the use of jacquard and exclusive woven techniques that reproduce smudges, typical in the denim culture. Tone on tone designs and unique graphic prints imbue the collection with a sense of sophistication and playfulness, trademarks of the brandâs imagery. All while keeping in mind the softness and lightness required of all Summery garments.
A seriously handsome sportcoat from Sartoria Partenopea. Versatile as it can be, either with slacks and tie or with a poloneck and jeans on the weekend.
