The sodegarami (sleeve tangler) that has been with our blacksmith friend for a few months is nearly finished.
The metal pieces are original to the Edo period and needed some minor repairs before they could be mounted to a new hardwood pole.
Should be fully done very soon.

SODEGARAMI (MAN-CATCHER) Iron, conical cusp, provided with six, curved arms, each provided with hooks at each end; long, iron straps (one is broken), provided with cusps. The first segment of the shaft is decorated with mother-of-pearl inlays. Wooden haft with some woodworm hole. Late Edo period.
