What Eleanor Represents - Rebloggable Edition
hi Layne.you don't have to agree with me but basically this is what I think. If you truly with all your heart ship Larry I don' know how you can like eleanor as much as the 'calderics' like it makes 0% sense to me. Personally I don't like her at all.

Well, I am sure as shit no Calderic.
I donât hate Eleanor, I dislike what she represents.
She is the physical embodiment of everything that is fucked up about our heteronormative society. She represents every bit of hate that is heaped upon the LGBT community, simply because who they love doesnât meet societyâs proscribed notion of what is ârightâ or ânormalâ.
So long as people blindly drink the Kool-Aid offered, instead of standing up and doing the right damn thing and saying âENOUGHâ, things are never going to change. Why should they, if the majority will blithely follow the status quo?
I mean hell, why not- worked the last go round when there was a push for equality - until Rosa Parks was too tired to move one night on the bus, right?
So who is going to be Rosa Parks for the LGBT community? Harvey Milkâs assassination didnât do it. Matthew Shepardâs death wasnât enough. Neither are the suicides and deaths of thousands of teenagers EVERY DAMN YEAR because society has forced them to live in an world full of hate, one that brings on self-loathing and shame, and the feeling that you will never be good enough - just because of who you love.
Eleanor is the worldâs biggest scapegoat right now - she is a flashing red light over what needs to be a change in consciousness. So long as people see her - the pretty GIRLFRIEND perpetuating the myth that her popstar boyfriend is straight - they wonât accept the clear reality.
The sad thing is, if it wasnât her, it would be someone else, because people are too fucking narrow-minded to just live and let live, and stop imposing their version of morality on others.
