Marble?

Yeah, Ramune bottles come with a round plastic lid over a marble suspended in a plastic collar. You take the lid off, pop out the “slammer”, and then slam it into the marble, knocking it down into a little receptacle inside the bottle.  Like so: 

After that you can sip from it. The marble stays in the receptacle near the top of the bottle, so if your bottle gets knocked over, the liquid pushes the marble back up into the collar and seals the bottle so it doesn’t spill!

No, that was whites -- that was on the recommendation of the French Pastry School chef who said that the best gingerbread recipe starts with several dozen egg whites left out for eight weeks.

Doesn't the 'Marvel Cinematic Universe' tag fold in all of the Avengers stuff? Or have I been Doing It Wrong? In any case, yay for a favorite trope!

Well, it folds in all the Marvel cinematic stuff, but if you want to search any of the cartoons or comics, you have to cast a wider net. Technically it’s what Avengers - All Media Types can be used for, though it isn’t always.

When I tag my fanfic I always tag it with the appropriate Avengers tag (like MCU or Captain America First Avenger or whatnot) and then also with “Marvel” just to make sure there’s something more all-encompassing there. But there’s no wrong way to do it really.

It's good though that you're exposing them to other people. I've had cats where we failed on that and they were terrified of outsiders. Even if it makes them a little anxious now, it will help them down the road.

Oh, they actually like him quite a bit -- it takes them a few minutes to warm up to strangers but they’re very friendly babies. They just get nervous when they meet someone new because I might be leaving them alone with this new person.

In the wake of everything horrible that’s gone on...

It was actually an allowance for people to carry on campus. I read that wrong.

Oh, totally valid as that fucked up situation is already in place here. As of fall 2018 concealed guns were allowed on all Texas campus thanks to our lovely state reps. I know at least one student who carried on campus and at least one coworker who likely does.

There’s a reason I’ve focused my job search outside of Texas. :/

You're...cutting back gradually, right? Don't go cold turkey or you'll have the worst headache :-/ Maybe take a preventative aspirin?

don’t worry, I gave up caffeine once cold turkey when I broke my ankle and couldn’t physically GET coffee and don’t want to go through that again.  I bought caffeine pills and I’ll see how my body responds to them.  This is only for like 2 weeks as I do a tooth whitening regime, and if it’s too hard I’ll just drink coffee out of a straw like suburban housewife

If you take measurements of your closet (don't forget depth as well) an elfa designer at the Container Store will customize a design for you and then pull all the parts you'll need. I have custom shelving from every major manufacturer and theirs is by far superior in quality and highest in price, just so you know.

That was my plan! Though I find Elfa kind of ugly, I can’t deny it’s both efficient and reasonably priced.

I may have missed something, but why are you spackling your walls before painting? Does that always need to be done?

Not always, but if you have a bunch of holes in the walls, it’s good practice. There were a LOT of rather large holes in the walls, particularly where shelves were mounted, so I wanted to fill them in. I’ll try to remember to take photos of the spackling I did when I’m back there tomorrow.

Congratulations on your new home! Did you ever find a subletter for your apartment?

I haven’t even started looking yet -- I only told my landlord I had closed AFTER I closed. I’m in a crunch but I’m hoping my landlord will take last-month’s-rent as a lease-break fee.

I just got a ton of new followers because @seananmcguire reblogged the Steve Vs. Trump story -- thank you, and hi new followers! So now is a good time to link to Leader Of The Free World, where the below story is set, in which Clint Barton was elected president in 2016 and Steve is his VP.

Also I love how Steve slowly became the fan favorite of this story. I blame the Vice Presidential Snowball Fight. 

“Okay, explain this to me,” Clint said with a sigh. 

“I don’t think it’s that complicated,” Steve said, glancing sidelong at Bucky. “There’s a running bet between the Secret Service and the President’s personal secretary.”

“That’s me,” Bucky said. Clint gave him a dry look. 

“Every time Bucky gets the best of the Secret Service, the agent he defeated has to learn a song,” Steve said. “Of my choosing. I mean, he is my best pal, Clint. He’s got an interest in my safety too.”

The four Secret Service agents also clustered in the room looked embarrassed.

“And what you chose to do with this,” Clint said, “was to teach these gentlemen each a different part of some four-part harmony union songs?” 

“You’ve been a very union-friendly president,” Steve said. 

“Which is why when I went running this morning, running along behind me was a barbershop quartet singing I Dreamed I Saw Joe Hill Last Night?”

The agents looked sheepish. 

“Could’a been worse,” Steve said. “Coulda been Waist Deep in the Big Muddy.”

“Steve, can’t you teach them My Country Tis Of Thee or something?” Clint asked. “I got enough problem keeping Congress in line without you teaching my personal security force anti-authority ballads.” 

“They already know My Country Tis of Thee,” Steve pointed out. One of the agents hummed, and on his key note the others burst into song. Clint let his head fall onto his desk.

“I am exercising my presidential veto power,” he said. “Steve, you are now restricted to showtunes.” 

Steve set his jaw. “Fine. I’ll teach them I Know Where I’ve Been. Come on fellas,” he said, gesturing to the quartet, who left still singing. Bucky patted the back of Clint’s head.

I can only imagine. What makes me insane is that there’s never a printable web form and usually no way to email the scanned forms -- HOTELS STILL USE FAXES. I am literally the only person on the floor who uses the fax machine, because hotels are so stuck in the mid-1980s. And usually they have the wrong fax number on the form, which is GREAT when you are sending someone your CREDIT CARD info....

Oh man, no, Strange is a hippie herb merchant! We mentioned him in a fic that isn’t archived yet, YouFood Roulette. 

I think I laughed the hardest I laughed in ALL OF 2016 when Sci wrote this bit:

“But he’s got quality spices and a bitchin’ van,” Tony said.  He glanced at Steve.  “Ever notice that it’s got a different picture painted on it every time he comes around?”

“Yes, I notice.  I notice that-” Steve rubbed a hand over his face.  “I asked him who did his work and he told me neither I nor my truck were ready for the mystic secrets of his paint job.”

“Last week, it had two panthers fighting,” Tony said gleefully.  “With battle axes.”
